Going to visit someone who is selling 3 of them later on this week, just wondered if there are any problems with paddock stands or anything to look out for when near the used ones.

(may kind sound of stupid but I don't want to waste cash on dud stands)

not a lot to go wrong with them, if it's knackered it will be pretty obvious. Just check the the little wheels turn freely and are secure and the frame part isnt cracked/bent i suppose

make sure they're wide enough. Mine are a squeeze to get the rear tyre between on the R6, Was fine on my CBR600 with a narrower rear tyre though

Thanks for the replies, I know it's a bit obvious with them being pretty simple but things like the little wheel I wouldn't of thought about. They are priced up at £15 for the three so if I can get a good one out of it might as well.

I'll let you in on a little secret about paddock stands. If they lift your bike wheel off the ground they're good. If they don't they're bad Smile

Make sure you have the right fitments..

Some stands have blocks and some have hangers just make sure it fits your bike..
Not a lot to go wrong though..

Had an email from the person saying they wont be back till later this week after the auction ends, one of the stands was apparently handmade to fit honda 400rr.

Not sure whether to go for it would you for £15 or leave it alone.

I was looking for a paddock stand for the SV because trying to oil the chain every 300-600 miles with only a side stand is a pain in the ass. I'm thinking of going straight to an Abba stand instead of the cheaper counterparts. There's a lot of raving reviews about them on the internet.

Some cheap ones can be a bit wobbly with bigger bikes - but ok if welded up.

Doesn't your bike have a centre stand?

at £15 for 3 I wouldn't even bother worrying about it! We're not talking life changing amounts of money here!

Not at the moment I prefer the side stand anyway when I'm doing anything with the bike only considering a paddock stand for changing the oil/checking tires.
