Had my Mod2 this afternoon and failed, within 5 mins of the test starting.Nerves got the better of me and i nearly dropped the bike turning right off a main Rd.I turned too sharp from a stand still.
I knew I'd failed there and then,so relaxed and just carried on with the ride, and only picked up 4 minors from that point.

Awh that is a bummer but good on you for keep on going. At least now you know what is expected so may help with the nerves. I used bachs rescue remedy to help me get the nerves under control.

Chin up mate, you'll get it next time

I did the same - nearly dropped the bike whilst stationery at a roundabout on the ride back to the test centre (don't ask Shocked ). I kicked myself for days after, but i tried again and am now the proud owner of a full license. Nerves are tricky to deal with, but as Trikeschick said, least you know what to expect so won't be nearly as nervous next time around. That was definitely true for me. Also telling myself if it's not this time it'll be next helped, as i wasn't giving up Smile

Get it re-booked and good luck!

That's an honest admission and deserves a Thumbs Up from the likes of me who has yet to do the theory test and getting fretful about the actual test.

You know what went wrong and are dealing with it the way I hope I can when my test(s) comes around.

Bet you pass next time, and hope you do; if it's any consolation , thanks for the heads up about what can go wrong.

Thanks for sharing mate.

Hey - hard lines mate ! Never mind as others have said you've reacted really well and proven with the rest of the test that you're capable of a pass.

Take on board the experience and go again for another try !

Best of luck with the next one !

Bad luck on that. When I did my first car test, I hit a kerb about five minutes out of the test centre and was a total bag of nerves for the rest of the test, so at least you did better than that! Now you know what to expect, I'm sure you'll pass next time. All the very best. Thumbs Up

In the days of the old two part tests I failed my part two the first time and in my opinion should have passed.

I passed the second attempt despite getting, (in order)

1: Lost
2: Going the wrong way down a one way
3: Speeding
4: Crying with relief when I found the test centre and examiner again.
5: Forgetting to bring my provisional licence with me.
6: Not having a front L plate.

In those days if you didn't pass within 2 years you were banned from riding a motorcycle for a year and it took ages to actually book a test.

Hesitation and not using my mirrors.

I did my test in the days before lessons so didn't realise that you had to move your head about to show you were using them, I had them adjusted just right so didn't have to turn my head except to check my blind spot. I removed my mirrors completely for the second test then there was no chance of that happening again.

The hesitation was because I had to pull out of a side road (right turn) onto a busy road called Barking Road (this was in East Ham). I had to turn where there was loads of traffic passing, combined with a busy zebra crossing (school chucking in or out time) and the road was planed off for resurfacing, so was covered in grooves and raised manholes and other iron work. Bloody right, I hesitated. This was the days when you rode the same circuit repeatedly so I had to do this right turn about 4 times. I've been a motorcycle instructor in the past and the fail/pass should have definitely been the other way round!

Found this rather useful lately. Seems common sense when you watch it, but I never really gave it a thought before.

Edit: Actually works perfectly for turning left in England. You don't need to worry about the examiner catching you at a stop without your foot on the brake.

Similar story with mine...was all going fine, picked up about 3 minors during the test, then in the last 5 minutes on the way back to the centre, i wasnt patient enough at a junction and pretty much pulled out on somebody.

Kicked myself all the way to the test centre, stood in the office waiting for the "im afraid you've failed".

Oh well...life goes on. just gotta learn from it and have another go Thumbs Up

Acknowledging ones own faults can be difficult. Since you've already done that, things are only looking better for you. And, as already mentioned by others before me, clearly you are capable of nailing it.
Just a matter of keeping Murphy's Law at bay for an hour, and keeping the nerves in check. Trust me, I know about bad nerves! I was physically sick (nausea, stomach pains, vomiting, diarrhea) for almost two weeks up until maybe an hour after I got the test pass certificate in my hands...
If you can at all rack up a few more hours on the bike, it could help with your confidence, and reinforce the knowledge you are more than capable of doing this.

This. This is exactly why I'm so glad I managed to find a short-notice booking for the day after tomorrow. I'd have been exactly the same Laughing

As to the OP, as already said by others, I think you're going to nail it next time. So hurry up and get back here with a pass story Very Happy
