My cousin had one when I was about 16/17 and we swapped bikes for a bit (I had a TS50).

It felt like it was trying to rip my arms off at the time, Laughing.

Nice bike mate, Thumbs Up

nice find...
now start looking for a 200cc engine (which has atac), fit bigger carb & the exhaust off the 200 & you will have an even better bike, which wil do an indicated 100mph & will wheelie in every gear & has a working pv, unlike the 125 which has it blanked off, making it pretty useless below 5000rpm,
cheers,
GAZ

yeah i agree below 5k there isnt much power but above theres a nice little kick.

i would love to source a 200cc engine but i hear there like hens teeth so dont think il be getting one of them anytime soon the 125 will do for now atleast its economical which i like.

keep an eye on ebay, you get the odd 200cc lump appearing,(they slot right in) i sold my last mtx complete with spare 125 engine, spare 200cc engine, couple of atac valves, wsm etc,
& its certainly worth looking out for an import 125 engine, just for the atac valve,
cheers,

so what exactly does the atac valve do does it give you more power below 5k or more power above it etc etc.

Nice little MTX that! Thumbs Up

I agree that the proper full power engines with working ATAC are better and give more power over the rev range, (same thing with the DT125 LC/R).

It's not the end of the world if you can't find one or a 200cc lump for a future re-build projetc etc.

I think the Gianelli expansion chamber was good for top end power, certainely they work brilliantly on the KMX125 anyway, and i would think that you could get a bit more midrange back by having the cylinder head machined and the squish band re-cut. The 200's ran a 7.5:1CR and i think the 125 has 7:1CR. If you had your head modded to give the higher compression ratio it would probably make quite a big difference to the performance in the midrange. you might need a cooler grade plug and higher RON fuel depending on how much you reduce the head volume by.

thanks mate i thought so to Very Happy

ooo i get you now kind of like a power band or pvs yeah i used to own a dt125 and believe it or not the mtx feels a little quicker on acceleration although it is a lot smaller and lighter than the dt theres a slight difference in topend but not much.

the machining work seems a bit to much hassle for me although if i come across a few pound il consider it the gianelli expansion exhaust on the other hand will be on my to do list as well as a new seat.

a little question for you do you know if the mtx come with a white frame or is that something that someone has done there self before i got the bike?

Red bodywork with a white frame and silver swingarm was a std colour for later MTX125's as was the White bodywork with the red frame and blue seat etc.
