Right, with my tomos having the setup it has, top speed when set up properly should be around 48mph... which at first I was excited about... but now I have to be honest, I fear that the brakes, suspension, tyres and frame will NOT up to the job of stopping the bike from that speed...

I'm toying with the idea of altering the gearing so it tops out at 40, keeping it looking stock, but just having it accelerate a lot better... that way, headwinds and hills shouldnt be as much of a problem...

what are your views on this? I could make the bike do 65mph if I wanted... but thatd involve changing 90% of the bike and just ruins the point... yet if I could get it to blast of the line pretty well then I guess I could live with that....

So basically you want the plus points of big bikes on a moped?

Shouldn't have sold the CB-1 Razz

It'll be lethal fast so make the get away sharp.
Would be funny as hell to see it fly away from the lights, especially if you can get it to wheelie.

Yeah, that blistering speed of 48mph. Laughing!

CG125s have a 95mm(?) diameter rear drum brake and a 130mm(?) front drum brake, older ones anywa and they brake fine from 50mph. I mean, they aren't like throwing an anchor out but they'll slow you down.

Your Tomos has 110mm diameter drum brakes front and rear I think, so with decent pads I'd imagine it would be fine, bear in mind I think the design speed is 30mph.

Is there any evidence of the frame/suspension/etc suffering or is this just weird worrying for no reason?

For what you seem to want just get a bigger bike, get a 250cc or something, at least that will have no trouble going on any road you want to go on whereas with that Tomos you can't go on dual carriageways or motorways really. Why restrict yourself for n reason?
