I wouldn't pay that much for a 125.

Get a HPI check, it’s worth it.

Check your frame and engine serials match those on the HPI.

Is the guy/girl selling it scum.

Check that all the locks are all in good condition. This may indicate that somebody has attempted to steal it.

Check engine to see if it is warm before starting it. This may indicate that the owner has started previously to your arrival maybe because of cold start problems.

Check any service history but many none if it is quite new.

Ask when oil, break pads coolant were last changed may help you nock some off the price.

Ask if its derestricted, a restricted bike will do about 65-75

See if you can have the parts removed from the de restriction because its easier to sell restricted.

See if you can have a test ride or if they will let you drive pillion.

Check there’s tread on the tires.

On the CBT they will have shown some basic tests for the breaks and other things like the chain and suspension.

Check the forks aren’t weeping.

Check all the lights and stuff are working.

Good Luck Mate.

Make sure the ad doesn't say "New piston and rings"! If it does keep well clear because they've been trying to get every last mile out of it. Same with many fairly recent bikes which say "reconditioned engine". I wouldn't see that as a selling point at all.

I wouldn't see it as a good thing unless there was a genuine reason for it.

Well 2 strokes need them replacing at regular intervals. So if it's just been done it's one less thing for you to do. Smile

Well, on an Aprilia RS125 the manual says to check the rings at 8000km. To do this properly you have to take the engine far enough apart that you may as well change them. Rough rule of thumb is to change the piston with every other set of rings.

Check the sizes of the ports on an RS125 or Mito and you will see how the piston rings get a hard time.

All the best
