Have to wonder why he thought riding like that was a good idea, and why he thought posting it on the internet was a better one. Rolling Eyes

Its less about being a berk posting it online. It is more unsavory backstabbers who make such anon tip offs to the police which secures the conviction.

Much like friends who are really enemies on facebook who print out crap you say about your company and take it to your bosses.

Didn't look that bad tbh... apart from the wheelies (I can't do them) and riding on the pavement, I've done far worse... bit boring really.

N3O's were far better Mr. Green

There has to have been more, what video is posted to youtube with just seconds of footage and without an obnoxious soundtrack?

The ban was hefty but there was no jail time, the sentence was suspended.

unless the video shows him hurting somebody the penalty should be minimal. he may have been riding fairly quick but i bet he was 1000 times more alert than most people on the road monged out at 30 mph

Wow, a year in prison for having a laugh on your motorcycle. I've seen Police riders riding worse than that and I'm sure a fair amount of riders on this forum have done exactly the things he has done in that video, if not then something fairly similar.

I guess he should have just made a bit more of an effort to hide his identity if he insists on uploading it to the web.

The bits I can't believe are: "It's a miracle he survived some of the situations". That's ridiculous, if you look at road statistics it's a miracle motorcyclists survive at all.

Secondly, they confiscated his motorcycle!?! He's been convicted so no use for it as evidence, so why are they depriving him of the use of his motorcycle which is his property? I can't see any justification for still keeping it from him? If so, I'd love to hear what it is.

I understand he took the risks, broke the law and got caught which sucks, but man, a year in prison seems ridiculously harsh. Prison sentences are given out for:

A) A crime so bad that it is deemed the only suitable punishment, such as murder.

B) The courts deem that you are so dangerous the public needs to be protected from you.

Personally, I can't see how he fits either of these criteria? I know he won't actually go behind bars unless he does anything else as it is a suspended sentence, but still. Recently a man was sentenced to manslaughter in Bristol Crown Court and he was only sentenced to two years yet the CPS sees it adequate to fill up our (already overflowing) prisons with people who don't deserve to be there? Especially as a first offence. Take his licence, make him sit an extended retest etc but a suspended custodial sentence is ridiculous.

Also recently in Bristol Crown Court, a woman was charged and found guilty by plea to dangerous driving, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with no insurance, she drove OVER 20 MILES on the wrong side of the motorway whilst completely drunk and a string of other minor things. She is banned from driving for 15 months and will get an immediate custodial sentence, unsure of the length but to me that is barely a worse punishment than what the motorcycle rider got when her crime was MUCH worse.

Oh well.

You keep saying he got a year in prison, he didn't get a year in prison. It's been suspended.

Anyway. He got off lightly compared to others. Wasn't there a guy who did 140mph down an empty motorway in the early hours and went to jail for six months?

Personally I think it will hit him harder than the fine/sentance.

I think that anyone caught uninsured/taxed etc should have the car/bike destroyed. No if, no buts, it's gone... I situations like this it also makes sense.

Its clear from the number of reoffenders that the current system does not work. So time to step it up and hit them where it will have a far greater impact on them.

That will have a far greater impact on them, than any other punishment.

Considered that it was a repeated pattern of behaviour, not a single incident, and that it was aggravated by encouraging others to emulate it.

It still looks a bit harsh, but we're only seeing an overview. The court got the whole story.
