Rained so hard, I got soaked through the textiles.

Funny to see a lot less M/C's in town this morning. Think I only saw two others onmy 40 mile trip into work this morning.....pussies !!!!

It it fun, as long as you're not too close to cars on Motorway, but riding through London is fun.

However this morning, I left at 5:30am and so it was dark and raining hard, so visiability on the M20, was next to none.

Riding in on pure addrenalin, waiting for some cock to change lanes without seeing me.

I don't mind riding in the rain. I have never found a fully waterproof suit thats lasted a journey in an absolute downpour though. Will hopefully have dry hands when I get about to sorting bar ends and muffs onto my bike though.

Decent waterproofs turn it from a ball-ache to almost fun.

I need a gore-tex (or similar) buff, however - it's the only chink in my impregnable armour against the elements!

i rode in this morning. Not the best wheels to ride in on wet tarmac (nobblies) but made it interesting! I saw 1 biker in a 14 mile stretch.

Yeah Last night was hard on the m25, dark and so much road spray. Seeing out the visor was hard all the car rear light were merging with the spray droplets. This morning was not to bad in the light, but didnt see any other bikes.
Lucky my waterproofs aint bad just my collar is wet.

Actually that WAS quite refreshing.
I managed to miss most of the rain, and only got lightly sprinkled along the Embankment for two minutes.

I even took the time to sightsee (at 25mph) at Hyde Park Corner at all the pretty autumn trees in Green Park.

Bus lanes through Lewisham towards Elephant and Castle were bad though as filled with water/puddles up against curb out to half fill the actual bus lane.... trying to see these in the pissing rain was helped by following bus or taxi, as they highlighted these for me, by soaking people on the pavements.

I done my first ever ride in the rain last night That was fun. I usually ride with my visor up, so when I pulled it down, it was already covered in rain which didn't help, couldn't see a bloody thing

I almost always ride with my visor up, for a while I was riding in a lid that the visor had broken off, until some plod pulled me and told me off

I tend to have the visor at the most at half-mast, to stop the rain getting on my specs, or sleet (ugh!!) from stabbing my face - and then I just peer out from underneath it.

I tend to go fairly slowly under such circumstances, admittedly.
But then, I'm hardly a speed freak at the best of times

The M27 was pretty much gridlocked this morning (Soton to Whiteley near Fareham). Looks like some mug in a Polo hit the central reservation.

To be fair the visibility was appalling in places...

I do quite like riding in the rain even if I haven't found a pair of waterproof trousers long enough...so am stuck with my duct-tape-and-carrier-bag extended over-trousers. I'm only 6'1"...hardly a freak of nature...but have a pretty small waist.

Multijoy: Let me know if you ever find that waterproof neck warmer. Mine is lovely and warm...which also means it takes an age to dry.

I decided to work from home this morning until about 9am. It was still pouring when I left home and the motorway was a bundle of spray and aquaplane fun, but by the time I reached West London it had pretty much stopped.

Incidentally, anyone else use the A40 Westway elevated section this morning? What was with the massive ramps across the road? It was like hitting some sort of fecking motocross jump. Burst fork seals for all!!

I then pulled over and changed my gloves from Gore-Tex to thin summer ones and took off my bright orange Flexothane jacket. My Gore-Tex textiles hold out the water ok, but take ages to dry whereas the lightweight, rubbery Flexothane dries out really fast. It can get a bit warm in town riding, but has the benefit of being utterly windproof on the motorway.

The other thing I love for really wet weather is my top box. No more pouring six litres of water out of my rucksack. I had a top box years ago, but haven’t used one for commuting before. My CB500 came with a Wingrack fitted so I picked up some cheap Givi boxes from Fleabay. The topbox came with a Givi plate for tubular racks so I threw that on the Renntec rack on my CBR600. It’s a bit wobbly compared to the rock solid Wingrack, but does the job.

Goretex FTW!

Was my first proper test of it this morning riding into London.

Was raining all the way in to the under ground private car park

Quick shake and it was dry to touch!

Being warm and dry on a day like this morning is satisfying, especially knowing the people who got the train got more wet than me walking 5 minutes from the tube!
