I just got back from work, (back at the 'rents saving for a bigger place) and found my bike laid against the fence, thought it was odd so asked daddy dear why the bike was moved, it was out the way of everything...

He says he's not touched it, not been out since dinner. I showed him it, and then i realised it'd been dragged about 2 foot backwards. They'd even put the spark plug cap back on and knocked it into neutral.. but not noticed the fuel tap was turned to 'off'. I'm pretty pissed off that they tried to voilate my bike, and rob my of the treasured beast but so feckin overjoyed I can still ride it through the area, letting them know they failed.

A £20 Oxford Junior disc lock saved my bike.
https://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/images/products/medium/OxfordJuniorDiscLock.jpg

The chain was round parents pushbikes but il be getting it back on mine now and getting them to use another!

Think I need to ride it more, just to let 'em know that it's my bike,.. mine. Cool

I bet there's no greater feeling that knowing you've beaten a bunch of scroats Thumbs Up
Especially with all the theft stories going round.

My moped always had the almax wrapped round the back wheel whenever im parked, at home or away...if they're determined enough to get through that, they deserve the thing! Laughing

They may just come back with tools to get the security devices off.

As if, there is no profit in it for the police, therefore they won't give a damn.

I've said it before if you think of the police as tax collectors it makes a whole lot more sense. Hence they will prosecute innocent (mostly) people with stuff to lose as it is profitable in the form of fines etc.

But helping steve? What possible profits will they get from this? They can't fine him as he has nowt. They can't fine the scrotes because they have nothing. So they won't bother.

It will have the effect of making the crime figures look worse for the area though. +1 unsolved vandalism/attempted vehicle theft.

These same figures that the police management and politicians 'care' out (in the way that they have to try to defend their decisions in light of poor figures etc - not to be confused with actually giving a rat's ass).

So if people report the crimes, it can help.

That said, be wary of anything recordable on the police database that an insurer would expect you to declare, as we all now know it's apparently fair game for insurers to penalise someone for "doing the right thing" and reporting stuff.

Removing the battery from your bike would be worthwhile. An aluminium baseball bat would be a worthwhile purchase also imo.

I'd leave it there and wait for them to come back with a very large metal pole, maybe stick the disk lock on the end so they can feel useful it is.

If they are cheeky enough to try it twice then the beating they reserve is totally justifiable. Thumbs Up

They took it with them, leaving my the half with no key hole. I've waited outside crouched behind the wheelie bin Laughing for an hour and half, with a phone in my pocket to record if they come back, but nothing yet.

I sourced an almax stylee chain, fixed the bike to a concreted in fence beam but still, the fact it's happened is w4nk.

Guess I'm lucky, if I'd not gone back to it so soon they could have beaten me and had it away while there was no security. Sick

Like a screwdriver? How'd you guess...

EDIT, Battery wasn't overly usefull anyhew, so pointless.
Im looking at new ones online, (mainly ones with alarms) but if it takes them virtually no time to rip that one off, why will a new one stand a chance? I'm not wasting £40-£60 for 'em to shear it off again within a week or 2.

what about a small "D" lock?

What you need is...a good quality baseball bat and video camera and a decent hiding place...set the camera up to watch the bike and then hide!.

1. they deserve it.

2.there making you out of pocket by you having to buy a new lock and a good quality baseball bat.

3.they tried twice wich is just god damn cheeky.

Dont worry about paying for the bat and the lock, youve been framed will cover the costs after you send a hillarious video of two chavs being owned by an angry biker armed with a Bat!

Laughing Thumbs Up

Sorry to hear about this, same thing has happened to. It's a bitter-sweet feeling knowing they were unsuccessful in trying to steal your bike, but disheartening to know they've touched it AND had the audacity to come back and try again.

I was paranoid about my bike - Parked right outside my front window, bike sheet on it, disc lock on the back, thick chain around the forks and through a concrete wall. Woke up one night, looked out the window and saw the cover had been lifted, front and back. Couldn't sleep at all that night - then about 5am I heard talking outside, jumped up, got dressed, got my dad and we both ran out, my dad with a golf-club. They ran like hell, but ended up being lifted by a passing unmarked cop car.

They're only going to learn the lesson one way, and it's not going to be a friendly reminder if we catch them. Mess them up, get a name and address from one of 'em and go have a 'word' with his father.

Also, get an alarm on it if you don't already - maybe a XENA Disc lock alarm. I can't see a screwdriver snapping on of those in half, and it will alert you to anyone trying to mess with it, or your bike.

Those alarms are semi reasonable, however Norman Cook the proprietor is a total nobber. The instructions he sends are complete garbage and if you have the audacity to ask for real ones he will call you an idiot.

They WILL come back. You DO have to beat them.

We have CCTV but last 2 days it appears the drive on the recorder was full but it didn't notify as per usual, time to get old stuff deleted.

I do intend to buy 'items' that will help me in re-educating these pricks.

I don't understand this. They stole two push bikes? They turned up on push bikes? They store off an almax chain with their bare hands? Confused

There ought to be a right to serious harm people who steal/try to steal your property. Provided you can prove it.

Type your postcode to get details of your local community police team. Report two attempted thefts, insist on being given crime numbers so that it goes on their figures.

Note carefully that insurers ask about "Accidents, thefts or loss", not attempted thefts that didn't result in a loss of or damage to the insured vehicle.

If you do defend your property, go for hands and joints, expect the police to take much more of an interest in you, and make no statement to them regarding your actions, even if you think it helps your case. If you're arrested, say absolutely nothing except to give or confirm your name or address until you've spoken with the duty solicitor.

Oh, and move. The area won't get any better.

But you only get five a year, apparently the British crime survey only records a max of 5 crimes per person. So the war zones some places have been are by underreported in crime numbers anyway.

Tonight, after work I popped to asda, stocked up on the beers and started watching Dexter with the old man.

ASDA receipt says 1:29am, CCTV says I was back 5 mins later, at about 2:45am police are knocking on the door, asking if I should have a motorbike parked on the drive.... my response "you mean there isn't?!"

Fuck me. Seeing the space where it was parked only half an hour earlier now emptyt was gut wrenching.

"Don't worry", he said, "we found it round the corner", he described the place I knew as the local deralict house with a big empty back garden.

I cursed, asked how the fuck I never heard them being sat indoors, only 5 feet away and trundled off to get it.

Got there, 2 vans were round there talking to whoever in the corner house opposite, I simply opted to check the bike over in the garden across the street.

How they get it?
Big fook off bolt croppers thru the padlock of the chain I got hold of last night, hadn't got round to a disc lock yet Crying or Very sad but to be fair, CCTV shows 3 big lads so i wasn't standing up to them without being slapped about and they could have carried it.

Car was untouched.

Damage?
bolt cropped ignition (actual barrel bolt cropped off)
twisted forks
rear brake stuck on
front fairing bracket bent - this at a glance.

So, I'v taken the front wheel off and barrackaded it in the front garden with gates locked.

Wankers. statement taken, might be able to get CCTV ripped to Utube laters, but i'm pretty gutted right now even though it's back. They get full points for determination.
