hi ive spent the last 2 years trying to arrange a trip accross kenya on adventure bikes ,and am finaly getting somewhere with border controls visas etc and hoping to be able to do it this febuary
was ment to be last year but by the time roughts etc were sorted it was well into may there winter and also rainy season
so after many hour sending emails and on the phone the wonderfull people at Pitstop Lynkbikeparts in nirobi have agreed to lend me a bike free for 2 weeks (i sell them a lot of parts and bikes at low to kenya prices)

were heading from nirobi accross country to and into Tanzania spending a total of 14 days living in tents and eating local foods at villages (tribe villages etc)
ive been to kenya a few times now so fully know what to expect ,we wont be staying in any hotels or lodges just trible villages with tents,at the moment there are 2 of us going from the uk and 4 from kenya i really cant wait!!if nothinbg eles sets us back another year (

anyway to my point this trip is only costong me flight and fuel with a few quid spenders so can easily fund it myself but i really would like to raise some money whilst doing in for special care baby unit as the saved my twin boys that were born 2 months early,so every penny i raised would go to them but would people just think im raising money just to go on holiday and not sponser me?
should i even bother trying to raise money or just go and enjoy the trip?
yes i know i cant spell and my punctuation stinks ! live with it i do!

Do you really need this answered?

You have money to spend on a frivolous jolly. You could choose to give that money to your charity, but wont. You're going to blow it in having fun. But you'd like us to donate our fun money instead, for a reason completely unrelated to your jolly.

Enjoy your trip, it looks amazing.

Meh... If you have to ask....

Try instead of asking for people to sponsor you, make a blog, post about in in the touring section (Id quite like to read about it) and put links to the donations web page for the unit in your signature and on your website. At least that way the moneys not going through you so people don't think are sponsoring your jolly ride.

I found myself in a similar situation regarding a charity recently. We had a breast cancer awareness event at a place I run that cost us nothing, I didn't want to collect money myself (cause I hate donating to people over the interwebs like people on forums and such) so instead we plastered the web address everywhere and gave out forms for people to fill in themselves. It really does take 2 minutes to donate to them via the website, so I figure the ones that didn't donate direct, it was too much effort for them. We had a jolly good virtual knees up, and we handled no charity money to support our virtual knees up.

Hope you twins are grown and causing you headache now too. Thumbs Up Mr. Green
