nice!
Sort that seat/tank gap out, raise the rear end, lower the front, swept up megaphone exhaust and you'll be winning even more! maybe some aluminium blanking plates to cover the holes in the frame up where the battery would've gone.

Thats cool, but where the hell do you put your ballbag? There is a massive gaping chasm there that I reckon my bollocks would slap about in.

Or worse, brake too hard and smush them into the tank?

Aaaah the big gap between the tank and seat has now been padded out with a strap on soft kneepad and is pretty much flush with the seat (I sit with my arse right up against the back of the seat so plenty of room for teh bollocks!!) Underneath the pads is the reg/rec and CDI box as well as the emergency toolkit and spare fuse/plug tehe.

Forks are super soft tho (standard 1988 brazil Honda CG125 ones)... they bottom out and clatter over even the slightest bump or pothole.... city riding is a nightmare in my town (full of damn speedbumps).... what can I do about this??? solutions??? =]]

Im glad you guys like it though! Cheers!!!! Razz

lift the front wheel off the ground so theres minimal sag on the forks, remove the caps and put 5x 2p pieces above the spring on both sides then refit the cap. Test ride, if its not firm enough for your liking add more 2p's.

Cheers
John

or check the fork oil level, could be too little, top it up and it should get a bit firmer.

Overfill it and it'l blow the seals out under maximum compression though.

oil controls the damping, spring controls how easy it is to start moving, symptoms above are spring related not damping related.

Cheers

Well..... took the forks off and tipped them upside down for half a hour or so....no oil at all came out and the springs inside were bone dry.....

Didnt have any fork oil to hand but I did have some 10 40w Gear oil so put 100ml of that in each and they feel so much better, no more bottoming out on speedbumps and potholes....aaaah so much better on the bones =p .... BUT... Have I messed it right up by using the gear oil? ... do you suggest draining it out and gettitng the right oil (which oil is good and how much?????)... the gear oil is ok for temporary though right?

Havent tried the 2p trick, will bear it in mind tho!

Thanks for the advice guys! =]

Um, it shouldn't do any damage*, although there's a chance that it may feel different according to the ambient temperature. I'm talking differences between the seasons levels of temperature change, though.

Get some proper fork oil in there.

*I think. Oil, even if it's not the right type, is better than no oil, in this scenario.

Thanks mate!

Yeah I'll drain out the oil sometime midweek and replace it with proper fork oil, Is it 10 40w fork oil that is best? I heard somewhere that some kind of ATF oil is reccomended but I'm not entirely sure on that one!

My bones are feeling better already! I no longer get that sense of dread that all my teeth are suddenly going to rattle from my mouth when I see a speedbump approaching or a cobbled road/dirt path....

Thanks Guys! =]]

Nice to see you on a "proper" forum mate !!

the CG one seems like a bit of a dead loss,

Keep up the good work with the cafe racer, and post more pics as you go.

I will shove some of mine on at some point.

All the best,

David.

Bike looks cracking, can't believe you were riding it about with no fork oil in it, impromptu game of buckaroo anyone? Laughing
