Hi, Just wanted some advice, I parked my CG in a cycle bay which I have seen used by motorbikes in Stone- Staffs on the pedestrianised High Street, I had to ride past the sign by a couple of feet to get to the bay, I have done this several times. In nearby Stoke on Trent these bays are marked for cycles and motorcycles and are sometimes also in pedestrian areas and again I use these often. Yesterday I received a PCN for parking "In a prohibited area". Having queried this with the warden who was nearby and having looked for signs I could find no sighs saying cycles/motorcycles. I have appealed on the basis that In Stoke on Trent these bays can be used by motorbikes and indeed the locking posts are provided. Anyone else had experience of this?

Stephen

Can you post photos of the entry signs, where you parked and a link to google maps if it's on there?

What you've got is a demand for payment, not a "fine".

Outside of London, parking on the pavement is allowed unless specifically prohibited.

Any parking restrictions in place apply to the whole highway: the road and the pavement.

Parking restrictions require valid signs/markings and a Traffic Order to be in place.

Whether you fight it on that basis (or believe anything that you read on an intartubes forum) is up to you.

Right, if the offence is entering the pedestrian zone then the red ring at the top of the sign seems very very faint. I'm assuming it's still like that. It should be a dark red and means No Vehicles, which includes motorcycles, lorries, cars and horse and carts.

If the offence is parking in a restricted street then where are the double yellow lines that go with the No Waiting At Any Time plates.

As you say it says prohibited area, I reckon they are saying you entered the pedestrian zone.

I would appeal, ticking the box that says no contravention occurred.

Your grounds are that the sign does not conform to The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 because:-

a) The red ring is extremely faded and the wrong colour (appears to be orange).

b) The extra white plate between the permit holders part and the yellow no waiting at any time plate is not a variation allowed under the regs.
