Was leaving work talking to a mate, went to start up bike and warm her up a bit (old gpz 5oo what always needs a warm up with the choke out for two mins.)
Forgot I had left it in first, standing beside bike......ignition, bike shoots forward and falls.................MASSIVE FACE PALM!
Luckily it had crash bungs fitted so no damage except for my pride........add that to the twice i managed to forget the disc lock (before I tied purple wool from the lock to the handle bars as a reminder.)

Just had to get that off my chest.
Please tell me some other chump has done this Embarassed

BTW You can lift anything when your embarrassed (i.e a bike when you normally break sweat climbing the stair), like a mother lifting a car to save a child. Maybe we should show shadey pics of British power lifters mums on the jumbo screens at the olympics to get more medals.

I always make sure my bike is in neutral before I switch it off, and even then I start the bike with the clutch in so that it doesn't shoot off and stall. Smile

Also, it might be a good idea to buy a disk lock reminder cable... they will be a lot more resistant to weathering than purple wool Laughing They're only like £2.99 at most and they will save your bike from mass damage.

Other than that, happy riding Thumbs UpSmile

Picture the scene, I've pulled up outside work in the morning, stopped the bike, got off. Clocked the cute french girl working just the other side of the windows watching me. Went to put the bike on the centrestand, foot slipped off stand, and bike went flying over away from me into the bushes, and I landed on my arse on wet tarmac. French girl is having a good laugh at me from the other side of the windows at this stage, and yes - I lifted my bike up by myself in about 3 seconds flat, when normally it'd be a struggle.

So not quite the same thing, but equally as embarassing Wink.

No, because I have a safety feature where you need to pull the clutch in. Laughing

Kind of similar to mine. On my Fazer, you can't start the engine if the bike is in gear, on the side stand. You either need to put it in neutral, or take it off the stand. Pretty clever really Smile

My gpz wouldn't start in gear unless you held the clutch in. Wouldn't start with the stand down either.

I stopped a few weeks ago for a smoke and somehow managed to park bike on the top of a slope.

When I got back in and got upright the right side was lower so my foot had further to travel and I promptly fell over as I couldn't hold bike up.

No damage but big facepalm from me.

First week I had my automatic Ford Explorer I stopped, handbrake on, jumped out & shut the door.

I'd left it in DRIVE.

Que me trotting down the (thankfully empty) car park after it, yanking the door open and hopping along trying to get one foot on the brake.

I was driving a tractor and trailer (totalling 28 tons) I stopped on a slight slope for about 5 mins waiting for someone, and I spotted them and they were having a problem with a piece of equipment, I got out forgetting to put the handbrake on.

Anyway, few minutes later I looked over and saw it rolling down the slope heading straight for a tree, cue me running (which I never do) after it, climbing up the steps and braking just in time.

Worse thing was it was about 3 weeks into a new job and my boss who isn't usually out and about saw the whole thing.

Oh Oh Oh

Many years ago I skidded off road in the wet avioding a deer in my car, only to get car stuck in a field

It was 2am in the morning so in my stupid mind I decided to stick it in gear, wedge the accelerator a bit with a stick and get out and push the car out.

Next thing I know the cars moving so i run to jump in car but don't quite make it and fall back out catching my foot under the seat.

Now the car is driving across a field with me lying by the car hanging out and being dragged by my foot.

lucky a big bush stopped the car only for it to end up being stuck again.

Did my head in with that on my GSXR.

I love just being able to push the ignition, job done. 1 finger.

Dad got a GSX1400 a while back and when he found out that you had to pull the clutch in, and I quote.

"What fcuking pr!ck thought that was a good idea?"
