Ebays still good for bargains now and then.

Anyone have any experience or reccommendation of transporting a motorcycle from purchased location to home location, cheaply but commercially? (ie not friend with van and beer, unless anyone's volunteering?)

I'm looking at about 150/170 miles.

Thank you very much.

Might help if you post up locations of you and said bike. The mention of beer may well spike people's interest.

Well bikes not bought yet, wanna scope out the options before laying down the bids. If its not viable to transport it.

The GPZ500 I bought from a chap on here (in Milton Keynes) was transported to mine (Gosport) by a chap I found online somewhere (was either eBay or Gumtree IIRC)

He transports bikes for a living and it went as smoothly as as I could have hoped

Cost was sub £100 IIRC

Would deffo use him again if I found another bike I needed transporting which couldn't be ridden back

I think he works from a Southampton base and is into his bikes and my sheddy GPZ was treated as valuable cargo and arrived here in the same condition it left in, van was custom kitted out for the job rather than just lashed with straps across the bodywork so that things get ratchet strap rub marks etc (not that it would have mattered with my bike!)

Not looked at your profile but if your anywhere down south I'll try and dig out my paperwork for his details

Regards
Rob

The more flexible you can be about dates, the cheaper you're likely to get it since the van monkeys can arrange to deliver a load of bikes at once.

Just be aware - Shiply isn't a courier itself. Merely a forum where you post a job and couriers bid for the work. And pay Shiply for providing the service, natch.

If you know some one with a bike trailer, they would probably move it for you.

Gee I didn't think of that...

I just thought I'd go through the ball ache of posting on an Internet forum, wait for suggestions then go through the hassle of arranging an anonymous courier to collect the bike for me at inconvenient times then get it back to me with the bill.

Dry enough for ya?
Don't worry I'm just playing. Thumbs Up Mr. Green
