Bloody things! Might have been caught doing a bit over the speed limit (60ish in a 50, dual carriageway).

Are they just aimed at the on coming traffic on their side of the road? I was going southbound (I think), and they where sat going northbound.

Its two weeks I have until I'm safe right?

The vans get traffic coming towards them through the rear/side windows. The cop cars I normally see using a side window, but have seen them using the windscreen.

Chances are by the time you saw it they would have had you, the laser systems in the vans are long range. They then either turn around and write down your numberplate or have another camera to catch that as you go past.

They have to deliver it such that it could reasonably be expected to arrive within 14 days, if they have to mess about tracking you for instance that wouldn't get you out of it, neither would a postal delay.

Thats OK then...I was going away on the other side of the dual carriageway.

Sods law, gone 4 years without getting pulled over or even close to getting caught speeding, then twice in a week! Luckily no points yet!

They could techinically (i.e. the physics would allow it) get you going away from them, don't know if the units are approved by the home office for this and there wouldn't be much profit.... point though as 99% of people would have seen them by the time they had gone past and slowed down.

Are you saying you rode all the way up to, and then past a liveried speed camera van, whilst exceeding the speed limit? Poor obs dude.

Did you ride past a liveried speed camera van over the speed limit? Poor obs dude.

Yep xD. I always check on my side of the road, but this was on the other side of the dual carriageway, and never even thought about it before!

Not as bad as Saturday night...over took a unmarked car doing silly speed...VERY lucky not to be in court trying to keep my license!

How have you not killed yourself/lost your license?

Why would I be paying that much attention to whats on the other side of a dual carriageway?

Not so much as paying attention but noticing vehicles designed to stand out.

As much as you can't be blamed for overtaking an unmarked car, (I find it hard to miss the camera under the wing mirror and all gadgets on the dashboard through the back windshield but I'm paranoid like that.) but overtaking doing 'silly speeds' when you should be sensible about it. I'm surprised you weren't pulled.

Depending on your definition of 'silly speeds' of course.

Bit tricky when cars on the other side are blocking it, but can understand what you mean.

I can normally tell when its a unmarked car, but it was around 11:30 at night, so didn't see it. I did get pulled, told to keep my speed down, if it was a traffic car I would be going to court.

Was doing 100 in a dual carriageway which is 70mph.

I swore rather loudly when I saw the blue lights lol.

Special, but don't know too much about how it all works with camera vans and what not. Fair as I know, they aren't manned by officers as such.

Not the ones I've seen; even ones on bridges etc are often pretty hard to work out when the last 5 bridges have had vans with a couple of logos on the side.
At the side of the road they tend to conceal themselves as much as they can while still being within 'guidelines' from what most that I've seen.

Depends what kind of 'unmarked' car. Ie some years ago riding away from Boxhill it was a plain Fiesta, though I'm presuming a traffic one is meant in this case.

This road is clear for about 2 miles, only thing blocking it is other cars.

It was a VW, copper said if it was a traffic car I wouldn't be just driving away, no idea what it was used for then...I'll have to ask when I'm next on duty.

Had to laugh, was driving back from work and had someone tailgating me for ages, wasn't going to speed up as it was the same road. They finally got past me, and made me look like I was standing still, saw another unmarked car turn its lights on...this was one of the unmarked ARV though, so not sure what they have in there compared to traffic.

I laughed...a lot. Must be some kind of op thing going on at the moment.
