Hi Guys.
Been tempted to polish my wheels

Anyone done it before?

Great wheel polishing video...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJxSYq6zrMY

Seen this video and he made it look so easy lol, i have a DA polishing machine, polishing compounds, angle grinder, compressor etc...

How bad is the upkeep on them? Can you polish ANY wheels? or do i nee to check anything before i take the plunge?

Mate has polished rims with painted inner sections on his GSXR750... he cleaned them the day he got them... took about 2 days before they got grotty.

Needless to say, they wont be cleaned again Laughing

I filed out some scratches on and then polished a pair of bar ends, if it rains they immediately go dull grey with watermarks, if it doesn't rain they would last about 3 days before going dull grey and they get some water marks as soon as it rains. Polished wheels would be a pig, you'd never polish them again.

The previous owner of my last bike did it, god it was a nightmare to keep clean, seriously not worth it!

I can barely keep my original black rims looking anywhere near clean - I'd be no good with maintenance of something like those...
I prefer to be riding or even doing general mechanical maintenance rather than cleaning
