So, my first off. Luckily only at ~10mph? or so, but it does make me feel like a right idiot for stuffing it up so easily. Basically coming into the car park at work (which is gravelled), hit a deeper patch of wet gravel and completely lost the front end, cue bike spinning around and me hitting the deck.

Bike: probably OK, shattered one of the plastic panels on the side. Wouldn't start again at first but found a loose pipe that needed reconnecting and seems all fine now.

Me: I'm fine; going to need a new helmet though because I headbutted the ground hard enough to scratch the hell out of the visor & not worth risking keeping the helmet after one impact.

Only thing that makes me feel better about it is that my boss crashed her bike in exactly the same way a while back so at least I'm not the only idiot to make that mistake!

Try being froze in position after a few hours riding & pulling into a motorway petrol station & don't put your feet down when you stop Embarassed
Glad to see you mention getting a new helmet after the head butting session.

See, inappropriate speed causes accidents. If you'd been going faster you'd have held it up. Razz

Ah well, at least you walked away, and bikes can be fixed.

There was a patch of gravel on the mini roundabout right next to the test centre when i did my mod 2, i made sure to go as slow as possible over that part. My friend dropped his bike doing a uturn in the road and slid on gravel.

As long as you are okay that's all that matters. My first off was when practising for my mod 1 at about 2mph! I think I pulled the front brake on the figure of 8 and the bike spat me off but landed on my wrist Crying or Very sad

Well if it makes you feel any better, I came off on wet, muddy gravel on a slope at 0 mph (and I've been riding for years and years and years). Embarassed

I fell of my bike a coupe of mornings ago. It was extremely embarrasing as the neighbour was no more then 10feet away from me.

I was on the bike and the bike was on the side stand. I realised I had left the front gate open so was stretching to close it. I overstretched and fell straight off the bike onto the pavement. Bike remained on the stand so no damage there. The damage to my ego though is irrepairable. Embarassed

That'll teach me for being a lazy bastard and not wanting to get off.

Got home last night, only other issue with the bike seems to be the clutch lever is bent or out of position. Hopefully a few minutes with a spanner will sort that tomorrow and the bike'll be back to full working order Wink

New helmet allegedly on its way to be delivered today...I'll be taking the road up to the car park at a walking pace from now on I think, %$^% gravel.

Sorry about your off mate.

Has anyone actually got their boot lace caught on the footrest or anywhere and couldn't get your foot down and the bike just goes over?

I've not done it but nearly did the other day. I'll try to remember to tuck em in from now on Laughing

Gotta be embarrassing I reckon.

The only time i rode without proper motorcycle gear - parked in the car park, put the side stand down and managed to catch the back of my jeans on the peg so when i went to put my foot down i couldn't. toppled over with the bike landing on me. must have looked like a right tit

Eazy, I like you but PUUUHLEASE!!!! I'd look rather odd riding in bear feet.

"Asking for trouble" is a bit over the top mate.

It's just a pair of boots. Way to over react I think..

I tuck em in and I think I'll be fine...I remember all the time...mostly Very Happy

Because they are warm, easy to walk in, and because there is no law stating what attire you must wear on a motorbike (thank you for not making the UK a totally nanny state). Personal choice rocks!! Cool

They are 'just a pair of boots', but more 'just a pair of boots......which cost me £100's in repairing fairings' if you did ever get your foot stuck.

Freedom of choice sure, never said it wasnt, nor am i over reacting

Reminds me of a joke actually.

2 guys in the pub, one guy says, "jeez, it's been months since I had some pussy, when did you last feel a cnut"

Guy replies, "when I caught my laces on my bike side stand in the middle of the High Street" Laughing

Why are you riding a cruiser?

I wear trainers every single time I go out on the GSXR.

Only reason I wore my boots today is because trainers got soaked yesterday.

Boots also have laces, but are bike boots.

They remind me of that episode in friends when Joey is in all the Ferrari gear! Stinks of trying a little too hard!

Next time I'm on the lathe at work i'm gonna wear a tie - I will look really smart - what could possibly go wrong if i tuck it in my shirt.

I dont care tbh, dont see why theres all this eye rolling nonsense. Just dont expect any sympathy from me if you come off and your ankle grinds to dust on the road because you had no protection there.
