looking at websites for campsites all across europe and Im a bit comfused at the pricing...

Most have a price per pitch per night but also have a price per adult/child etc

So do you have to pay for the pitch and then per person or what?

Cheers

Sometimes pitch includes 1 adult, extra persons cost more.
Vehicle costs more as do pets

You may get
Pitch 5.00
2 adults 3.00
bike 1.50

so you pay 9.50 per night

I find euro camping cheaper than in uk, like most things.

That second person really does bump up the price, but it's still only £12 each so pretty good.

Slightly more than some of the best campsites i've stayed in. Camping Berger in Cologne, Stobrec in Croatia and the resort site in Ljubljana.

Don't know how your other half would feel about it but you could rough it for free. Stick the tent up somewhere quiet for the odd night if you are moving around.

Chillyman. When are you thinking of going there? I went there at the beginning of august last year when passing thru switzerland and it was full so had to find somewhere else to camp (which I did a few miles up the road). It looked to be quite popular as it was so close to the city centre. Mind you, I was turning up at about 7pm and it was during some sort of festival.

So might be worth having a few alternatives just in case.

Generally speaking, most european campsites charge:

per night
per person
per vehicle (rates dependant upon the vehicle type)
per tent (rates dependant upon the tent size - square metre foot print)

With a couple of people each on their own bike, using their own tent. Costs per night soon stack up

Additional charges may include electric hook up, pets & parkimng fees

Try a Cafe/pub with a big garden/land, I have parked up with friends, told them I've done enough riding for the day and will eat/drink there if we can put the tents up overnight. It can work well, One place in Germany left the doors open overnight for us to use the toilets.

I stay at a camp site at Millau for three night's Friday Saturday And Sunday night. No one was there to ask for money. So on Monday morning I thought as I pack up if one come's I've got three night's for free, All in all if I'm camping. I'll only pay for one in three night's. The rest if you look around you can get away with,
But on a rainy night F1's are a good idea,

Another vote for this - I much prefer it, though typically a lady will less so.
No screaming kids to wake you up. Np long walk to the toilets. No hassle turning up late, leaving early; or turning up early and leaving late either generally Smile.
