How much do you live on a week?

As above, excluding petrol / food etc. For general 'social' moneys, how much do you spend a week?

Trying to save up a deposit, and figuring out what I can live off.

Without petrol and food I can live off nothing. I'm not a social monkey, probably live off £50.00 a week for drink if I was on it. It's all about the pre-loading.

Very little in my case. Tend not to go out drinking, so my "social" expenses are more down to buying "toys" or magazines. If I am broke I can cut that down to pretty much zero.

Not a huge lot, I buy a 1/4 oz every couple of weeks which I could cut out, otherwise I'd say no more than 20-30 a month.

I can exclude petrol and food because I know I'm spending £140 a month on fuel, and how much I spend on food.

Was just curious as to what people put aside for going out, socialising, spending on stuff they don't need - as Keith says, magazines, etc.

Most weeks my "socialising bill" would be zero
and even with a small family birthday party organised in the past week, £50 was out of the ordinary for me.

I don't go to pubs very often, and on the rare occasion that we go out, because of family situation it's usually just for a pub meal during the daytime

You could just do predrinking for ~£10, bus there and back for £5, entry maybe £5, so your basic cost is £20. On top of that, just get a few drinks at say £3 each, and spend most of the time getting to know and chatting with the ladies rather than standing by the bar! Night out for about £30 and you might even get lucky at the end of the night

I tend to only go out (out out, not just out) every six weeks or so. With taxi's, boozing etc I normally get through about 80 quid. In a normal week I have a bottle of red on a Friday and 75g of baccy a week.

Most of my 'disposable' income goes on the kids and their various clubs, dance lessons etc...

Two years ago I was made redundant, for 6 months I had JSA & was very very carefull sorting the bills out with redundancy money then all we had was the missus wage, £115 take home as a part time care worker.
We was refused any sort of benefit or help because the house hold income was above £99
Then I got a minimum wage job, even with both wages we struggled due to needing to catch up with unpaid bills.
Finance is a little better now but I'm struggling to comprehend how any one can survive on a minimum wage.
Social fun fund was covered this year by a small amount of debt to be repaid later & certainly looking towards next year with some spare left over wages.
To answer the OP, It's easy to cut back when anything non essential is covered by getting into debt or doing nothing that involves fun no matter how slight.

That would be a big fat £0.00 for me these days; My lad, mortgage and bills are far too important.

In my care free single days £100+ a week on booze/nights out was not uncommon. I'm 26 now and them days seem a very long time ago.

£60-£120 per night depending on mood. x2 a week. Usually win 50-100 back at the casino on the Saturday. Only just recently started a well paid job, so not adjusted myself accordingly yet.
When I were a filthy student I used to manage EASILY £100 when the rest of the students were on 20-30 quid a night (one of the girls even bought me 2 double vodka redbulls to kickstart my night and managed to stick to her usual £30). I'm more conservative now, but places are far more expensive!

Don't spend masses socialising... most nights "out" are at most a few pints in the local, and often just involves me, her, the TV and a bottle of wine. However, socialising and disposable income don't equate to the same thing - I buy a lot of "toys".

30 quid is all thats left out of my wages every week

and i need to buy petrol with that luckily the 100cc scoot i use daily only holds 4 quid
and that lasts for two weeks

i buy a paper daily for work and a chocolate bar so thats another fiver gone so twenty quid for a few pints over a weekend
