Safer Crash Helmets by inventor Jullian Preston-Powers
Invented in Sussex
https://www.itv.com/meridian-east/safer-crash-helmets37994/

A revolutionary new type of motorcycle crash helmet has been developed at the University of Sussex. It's designed to rapidly cool down the brain following an accident.

Researchers believe cooling can reduce neurological damage and increase the chances of survival. The helmet can also alert emergency services if the biker has been knocked unconscious.

I'm sure we will be hearing more about these crash helmets once the word has been spread. Karma

Nice idea, but whats the cost going to be.
Also, for me - I can be clumsy with my helmet, and knock it - Have droped it. But i have confidance in Arai's design.
Wonder what force you would need for the cold stuff to activate.

Yup, years old, they tried pushing it to push bikers and it didn't take. It won't take off in proper-biking either until some racers start using it and they take out four page infomercials in Speed Bike Wank Rag Monthly.

I guess it's a good idea and it would help. I reckon the cost would be very prohibitive though.

I was more interested in the fact that we only make up 1% of road users, never knew that.

That makes us L337 Wink

ACPO call bikes "irrelevant toys" in the context of traffic planning, and to be honest it's hard to find a statistically significant counter-argument.

I believe someone came along and proved that the small amount of cooling this system could provide would do the sum total of fuck all to help with any brain injuries.

Heard about it years ago, lots of big talk then nothing.

Whether it works or not, at least someone is trying to make lids better other than having nice pretty colours.
This idea may lead on to something else that does work.

Probably the last you'll hear about it as well, unless they try flogging it to sky divers next.

I can believe this. Take a good, good look at how our roads are designed.
The only thing that's relevant to us on the roads is that sign that says "No access to cars or motorcycles".

And the little, randomly appearing and disappearing icon on the bus lane signs. Not that any bugger pays attention to what's displayed on them anyway (bikes/not bikes, direction of travel, hours of operation, whether there's one there in any case...)
