It's just dawned on me that I'm in dire need of some offroad kit. Especially after stumbling across an old photo of me on my 520...

How I currently roll... (thankfully, the bike no longer has those stickers... as I now ride a 300 EXC)

https://img703.imageshack.us/img703/781/18570810150384095300517.jpg

So yeah, Arai chaser and Arlen ness is not ideal.

I'm after everything really.

I'm 6'2
Boots? UK size 11
Gloves, XL
Helmet, size L (on the arai anyway, and any road helmet i've had)
36 inch waist, 44 inch chest.
W.H.Y?

I'm not after spending an extreme amount, maybe £150 all in? But I'd prefer second hand stuff as you tend to get more for your money (although the helmet may be bought new, but post if you have a decent one that's been upgraded/doesn't fit)

Cheers M'dears.

'Chav' is a vastly overused term for people of your age to try and sound 'hip' and 'cool' to the internet world.

I would ebay, but I can't be bothered to 1) wait for auctions, 2) wade through adverts from people thinking their old gear is worth its weight in gold.

Good try though.

the term 'chav' is actually from my era ... its you young people that have nicked it ... along with dance music and baggy troos.
But if it makes you feel like you are all original ... then yes sonny ...u r right.

Jeans and trainers and a road helmet is chavvy ...end of argument.

Ebay is a great place for cheap kit.... there are loads of old blokes who are going through a mid life crisus and buy bikes ... only to get scared and then sell it on cheap.
Look at tobyd.

But us youngsters are in it for the long haul huh!

Look like road bike boots to me.

Can't criticise here; ok I didn't go for jeans (leather bike trousers instead), but went for full road/race bike kit the first few times doing off road.

As for matt; no point buying second hand gloves most of the time.

The very first time that I went green laning I wore some Dunlop Trials wellies that a friend had in his garage.I soon learnt that rubber boots would not keep the cold out.

As for a suitable helmet.A friend wore a road full face lid while out on his dirt bike. The second time out he came off and with the close proximity of the face piece it knocked out all of his front teeth when he came down hard on his front.

Actually a point, used army boots (the non goretex kind) a few times too - do think decent boots and knee protection are important 'just in case', however.

The best knee pads that I have bought myself were £12 from B&Q.They have a hard plastic outer, with two differant layers of foam to cushion the patella from impacts.Normally they are for people who spend a lot of time on their knees, but I have found them easy to recommend to many others.

I doubt I would have finished my last enduro if I hadn't borrowed some knee guards Wink fell ob a sharp rock that could have been nasty to the kneecap.

well, even if it's not actual pics, just google pics of the product. Sounds perfect though, if you could PM me your paypal and a link to a pic of what it actually is then I'll get payment sent.

That OK? I checked them over, no rips or tears and as I said I tried them on once and put them away so never been worn really.

I just found my old knee guards too! No sizes on them but I think they are large too. Velcro straps to adjust and go down to mid-shin so will tuck into your boots. Do you still need some knee guards?
