Hi everybody,

The girlfriend wants an equation to put into her sisters boyfriends Christmas card. He's in his second year of a maths degree and she's after either a problem that wont be able to solve, or something that he will solve but wont make sense (giving an answer like 1=2)

Any suggestions?

Euler's Identiy is considered a beautiful equation. The wiki page explains it better than I will, but the person who told me about it, said it was to do with the simplicity and the fact it ties some mathematical numbers together well.

About 1/4 of the comics on there, or about 1/8 of those on xkcd would do. You don't have to overthink it, it's not like your "girlfriend's sisters's boyfriend" will actually end up doing maths for a living when he's all grown up. Focus on your goals: you're aiming to get a hummer from the girlfriend, so find something that she will think is clever.
