Looking for Hob socks for a christmas present.

As the the title says. I'm looking for Hob socks for my brother for a xmas pressie.
Basically they are really big thick wool socks same sort of colour as an aran jumper worn by trawlermen or 60's bikers.
Nothing on flea bay under hob socks and nothing really when you type it in Google.
I'm just wondering if its a Grimsby word (well some one's gotta live here) and if there called something else in other parts of the country if you know what i'm talking about.
