Just dedicating a thread to the machine that got me my licence on 24th November this year.
Purchased the bike on 10th September this year. Had no one available to come view it with me and being a total noob i took a bit of a chance with it, but i got it pretty cheap for a GZ125.
To be honest it hasnt had all that much done to it, other than:
- New tyres front and rear
- Rear wheel spokes tightened by a mechanic, as they were loose and pretty dangerous. One spoke needed replacing as it had broken.
- Oil change (changing the filter soon too)
- Tappets done
- New front brake pads
- A lot of time with wire wool and WD40 to remove rusty areas
The main expense being the tyres, as its a cruiser tyre choices are limited, and both tyres, fitting and wheel spokes done came to £140ish i think.
Came off the bike a while ago as shown in my sig. No major damage, just needed a new indicator cover, free the float valve in the carb, but it did leave a fairly nasty graze on the exhaust which im trying to stop from rusting with ACF50 and Autosol. Lots of help and advice from Tef, top guy . Learning a lot from the bike as well, i can now do some maintenance myself, infact just had the rear wheel off earlier to pack the cush drive rubbers, feels a lot better now.
Mods to the bike ive done:
12v socket for sat nav
HID kit for main beam
Roxter heated grips
But i had to remove one mod......the L plates . Very happy with the bike, it has served its purpose and got me my A2 licence just before the weather has started to turn horrible. My training was done at Hinckley and i would highly recommend them to anyone local, very cheap as well, £125 and they teach you until you pass. Only downside is the training is in the dark from 7pm. Another reason i passed when i did, didnt like the idea of riding up and down the A5 in freezing temperatures.
Keeping the bike until i have enough funds for my dream bike, a Virago 535.
Now a few pics:
The day i got it, after removing a lot of rust and wash/waxing:

As it stands now after a well deserved clean and polish and removal of L plates, phone camera pic so not that good.
