Its that time of year again and my insurance is up for renewal. Moneys a bit tight at the moment so i am going to be insuring just 2 bikes. The super four and the ninja.

Last year i had a multibike policy covering 3 bikes, but the renewal price this year is double what i paid last year so I'm looking to insure the superfour on a TPO policy and the ninja on TPFT as it seems to work out cheaper insuring them seperatly and TPFT is a waste on the superfour as i'd never claim on it anyway.

I currently have 5 years NCB to use but can i use that on both policys or if i use it on one is it then spent?

If i cant use it for both does that mean i will start to accumilate 2 seperate NCB's

Either way seems a bit wrong to me unless i can somehow tie them together without it being a multibike policy?

You can only use your NCB once.

You'll start accumilating a new load of NCB on the other policy.

So have you just got the renewall price, or have you run a new quote?

Not sure if you could split the NCB across both bikes. Would need to ask the ins co that.

Definitely get some new quotes on a multi-bike policy using your 5 year's NCD, you can only use it on one policy and will get mugged on any policy without a NCD on it.

i've had quotes for a new multibike policy from several insurers and they come out at more than doing them seperate through 2 different insurers as the insurer thats cheapest for the superfour is nowhere near the cheapest for the ninja and vise versa, also i dont want to be paying to insure the superfour TPFT. Multibike policy's will only give you the option to choose one type of cover for all the bikes on that policy, ie: i cant insure one for TPO and one for TPFT on the same policy.

If i use the NCD on the ninja it's £222 and if i use it on the SF it's £50
I can insure the SF with no NCD for £110 so it's not the end of the world if i have to do it that way. I was just hoping there was some way of using my no claims on both but it looks like i cant Crying or Very sad .

You shouldn't be able to, but NCD is rather a wild and wacky thing. Admiral, for example, did not ask me to provide proof of NCD when I took out a car policy this year.

If you can get all the insurance you want on 2 policies with NCD on one of them, then great, you'll be earning a 2nd batch of NCD on the 2nd policy.
