For some unknown reason, HMS Belfast was p/shopped out of an Olympic poster.

The people responsible have apologised, claiming it was a 'simple mistake in the production process'.

Now I'm no expert, but I believe it must have taken a certain amount of effort to completely remove it, and to pass it off as a 'mistake' is something of an insult.

What puzzles me is why it was removed in the first place - it's a pretty established 'London landmark', and I can only assume it was removed because it may have caused some real or imagined offence to the PC brigade.

This country, some people.

I wonder when the tramps will be rounded up and locked into a condemned tower block.

Mind you, it should be a bonanza for all our East European whores and African muggers.

It also seems random that they took the photo from that angle, from the other side of the river would have got the tower + city + st pauls etc. That way gets the blob and a half finished tower block.

Just been on the bbc news site and saw this:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-15953828

"A pedestrian walkway from London's Embankment on to HMS Belfast has collapsed into the Thames"

My paranoid mind says they want Belfast out of the picture for the Olympics and that this gangway will not be repaired in time and as such Belfast will have to move to avoid some BS health and safety issue.

...and that this has been planned, to the extent of having it airbrushed out of the poster mentioned above.

We'll see.

They could always recommission her AA armament and use it to shoot down the waves of suicide hang-gliders or whatever it is that they're expecting.

"The Japanese road repaired SIX days after it was destroyed by quake

he picture of gaping chasms in a Japanese highway demonstrated the power of the March 11 earthquake.

Now the astonishing speed of reconstruction is being used to highlight the nation’s ability to get back on its feet.

Work began on March 17 and six days later the cratered section of the Great Kanto Highway in Naka was as good as new. It was ready to re-open to traffic last night."

I can easily see how this happened...

Photochopper is given a few photographs to work with and told to make it look pretty. Doesn't realise the battleship in the picture is meant to be there and just chops it out (it's a 10s job to remove something like that for anyone who can use photoshop). His boss doesn't realise, then the committee glance at it and don't realise - then it's in production and everyone's angry.

As for the direction, it makes 0 sense to me either what with the olympic village being in the other direction too.

It's just a cock up rather than anything sinister...

Here's a link to quite how easy it is to remove something:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcJbN8CA49c

I remember the artists at work being quite excited a while back because this had become even easier / automated in the latest PS - just select an area, press a button and it's gone.
