basically, what happened was. I got a letter from the DVLA saying that I need to pay them £80 for not taxing my bike!

Then a letter taking me to court for "failing to notify a change of keeper".

The bike in question, was stolen in July 2002 and my insurance took all of my documentation from me.

In respects I had no way to notify them and that I also haven't had the bike for 2yrs as well.

Congrats mate...glad you got it all sorted.

At least we all know that if your bike gets nicked, send the V5 off!!!

A valuable lesson has been learned here folks (but wasn't your fault Stu - nothing aimed at you here!)

Insurance companies eh?

You thought about sueing your insurer for causing this problem? Surely if they take all the paperwork it's up to them to sort out the DVLA?

Perhaps a trip to the CAB will give you a legal insight into it...just a thought.

Mark
