you could try google search for test routes. I managed to find the ones for my local area, was a real bonus being able to practise them on my own. Good Luck Smile

Firstly good luck with mod 2.

Secondly. Test routes used to be published online through the DSA website but since the introduction of the "fee riding" aspect where you have to do your own thing, within reason, for 10 minutes or so they have removed all test routes from their website.

A good idea would be look on Google maps at where exactly the test centre is and if you think about the test being around an hour ride that gives you a 30 minute radius, because you wont go further than that. You will be expected to cover various riding conditions, roundabouts, housing estates, changes in speed limit from 20 right up to national speed limit. Have a look at the area surrounding the centre and you'll get a good idea of where they will take you.

I checked out Erith on that League table of Test places and their pass rate is well down, something like 53% or summat.

Now, I'm not suggesting they are bad or do things underhand to make a few quid but if other Schools can do 70%+ why can't they?

I'm thinking of Erith, or at least I was as they are close-ish to me but that made me have second thoughts.

Good luck with it though.

Expanding on this post, if you want some pass percentages check this file: https://www2.dft.gov.uk/dsa/Documents/mod_2_pass_rate_by_month_by_test_centre_by_gender_produced_on_10.05.11.pdf

I did have the test routes as I did my Mod1 there and wasnt sure if I'd do my Mod2 there as well but I'll have to look for them as they may still be on one of computers that I use and if I do I'll try and post them.

Just remember that there are several dual carriageways with 50mph limits near the test centre. If you havent been there before the test centre itself is off an industrial road and lorries sit further back past the centre entrance. There is also a bus garage at the furthest end of the road. The road was a bit bad for potholes and the like when I went there. As you turn right out of the centre there is a small roundabout, the next right takes you to a larger one and from there you'll probably go off into the initial routes.

Definitely take a ride down there and check it out. I quite liked riding round there as the roads were always nice and clear Smile

I did my mod 2 test at erith.Aslong with 2 others in our group. We all passed first time.

I think there is no point learning routes in your head. Just get out there and ride your normal ride.

Only thing i can remember about erith to watch out for, is being in the correct lanes at the roundabouts, but if you find yourself in the wrong lane, dont try and turn off, just stick with it, the examiner will just redirect you, and somewhere around there is a dual carriageway around there, but the speed limit is 30. I got a minor for doing 35.

Otherwise i found it a nice area to do the test. Roads were empty and clear, i did my test at 8.45am.

As nant said just ride your ride but if it helps any here's the routes from 2010. They are written routes not maps.

How about getting a "Tall Rounder"? I'm 6'2" with 34" inside leg, and my Versys fits like a glove. Ok, I've not ridden it until I pass my mod 2, but in the garage it's fits me great. I've spent a lot of time sitting on it making Vroom noises.

WTF? How can you not be out there riding around. (Unless of course you have had some serious accident and on crutches / wheelchair / drip etc etc)

I've not passed my Mod 2 yet - I bought it a week before my DAS, then cocked up the mod 1. I passed the re-take yesterday and am waiting for a Mod 2 test slot to come up.
I could take it out but it really isn't worth the ban, or the no-insurance. Soon, though. Soon.

Good luck on the mod 2, not really able to help on test routes all I would advise is go to get the list of what you will do on the mod 2, so roundabouts, housing estates etc.. then go to somewhere new that you have never been before and try to incorporate them into a route.

This way you know how you will feel under the test well similar feelings..

Regarding not riding around on the new bike until you passed your test good one, take care.

Although saying that little bit unlucky you are not around here saw a guy riding around on one of these the other day. Gs550 on L plates. He was talking to police as well when he pulled up to have some lunch, they didn't say a word.

Congrats digusix5! Now the learning and the fun begins Very Happy

Good luck on Mod2 Englishman, hope you don't get rotten weather and TheSmiler, there's loads of unlicensed or L-plated big bikes/scooters around these parts of London and the normal police don't bat an eyelid they just run the plates to check if its stolen. The traffic police on the other hand, well there's a different story Twisted Evil
