Hi everyone,

Im feeling fed up but confident for next time...

First time I failed by putting my foot down on the figure of 8 and I blamed the fact i was using a different bike to the one I had done all my training on and I chose not to continue the test.

Second time I was riding the bike I used for all my training and done the same thing, foot down on figure of 8. This time however, I continued the test and passed everything with no minors, so I failed for a simple mustard of going too slow and turning too tight. No minors, one serious.

Third time was today.

I dissected every part of my slalom and figure 8 and made sure I accelerated and went as wide as I could to pass that section, then I passed my slow riding at walking pace then the part that annoyed me, I went too wide on my U Turn!!! Crossed the White line and was told I failed and that was the end of the test.

GUTTED!!

My bike comes on wed and I really wanted to be ready for my mod 2.

I'm so dissapointed because I can and had done u-turns all morning before my test,

But hey ho...

Next time there is me doing mod 1 and 2 people doing mod 2 from the same riding school in the space of 1 hour, so I hope I can use the same bike :-/[img][/img]

What a bummer for you mate..you just gotta persevere I failed and passed second time... damn u turn..sometimes the nerves get the better of you but now you know what to expect just get this over and done with ..cause you will soon be sitting your mod 2 which in my opinion is easier.

Thanks mate,

I don't even think it was nerves, I think I was concentrating too much... If that makes sense?

Unlucky dude,

I had a few tests myself. I had a total of 3 for MOD one and 5 for MOD two. Yes, you read that right, FIVE goes for MOD two. The one thing that got me though was thinking that if I gave up now then I have just wasted all that money for nothing.

Perseverance is the key to it all dude, just keep at it, I wish you all the best for your next go.

Unlucky. Get your arse down to the local supermarket on Sunday and practice that U turn until you can do it without thinking.

Where abouts are you? Im sure there are a few people in your area that would be happy to give you a few pointers or take you out for the day to help.

If it's any consolation I failed the Mod 1 twice on very similar faults as you. Foot down on the slalom on test one, missed out a cone on test two.

My error on test day (although I never did it in practice) was fixating on the item I was trying to avoid.... in this case slalom cones. It wasn't until the third test when I really started looking at where i wanted the bike to go (ie: through the damn cones) that it became easy.

You will pass you just need to remain calm on the day (easier said than done!)

I had a Rescue Remedy pastel before and during the test, they seemed to calm me down a little.

Good Luck and come back with that Mod 1 cert on the 4the test Thumbs Up

Bad luck, it's probably just performance anxiety. The really annoying thing is that as soon as you have your license, you'll be dabbing your feet down left right and centre whenever it seems sensible to do so.

Hang in there, you will nail it eventually.

Failed my Mod1 once, it was on the Uturn as it goes, but my issue was turning too sharp and not enough clutch control/revs.

You'll get it. It's just one of them things.

With regard to U turns and figure of eights, I recommend heading off to an empty car park as mentioned, with a tape measure and the measurements of the relevent test markings in hand.

Practice until you can do a U-turn with approx 1/3 of the box to spare, and do figure of eights with markers about 2/3 the distance apart of the test ones.

This is what I did and it had a dual effect of giving me confidence that it could be done easily within the actual test distances, and feeling like the test distances were very generous, as I'd been doing it in less distance consistantly Smile. Practicing U-turns and figure of eights for 2-3 hours each evening for a week got pretty boring, but I passed my Mod 1 okay Very Happy

Ah d'oh that's my own fault for having assumptions - I was assuming (incorrectly) that you were practicing on a 125 before taking the test.

I'm sure you'll pass the next one anyway - and as people have said, afterwards you'll be dabbing all over on U-turns anyway - why try to keep your feet up and risk falling over when a quick dab can allow you to get around confidently and stably.

I live on a private estate in a cul de sac... Would I be able to practice u turns in my street on my cbr?

I know the turning circle on an er5 is better than
My Cbr, so if I can do em on that I should be fine on test day??
