https://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/General-news/2011/November/nov1711-top-bike-insurer-says-no-more-than-three-mods/
it look like bennetts have just hit the final nail in the coffin by refusing to insure any motorcycle with more than 3 modifications.
These include a sticker, tankpad or even a filter change.
I've just checked my bike and I'm ever so slightly over the limit
To me this looks like the very end for bennetts, they were never the cheapest anyway so it looks like they'll struggle to sign up any new customers or even gen renewals.
A list of some modifications is below.

I was watching their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/bennettsbike and the moderators on there are having a hard job keeping up with removing the sheer amount of posts being made where people are telling them to go with Swinton bikes etc. |

So if you use non OEM brake pads, tyres and C&S that's your three mods.
I hope they go under. ____________________ My Flickr |

Do you guys inform them of mods at all?
I suppose it's a way to catch people out if they make a claim. ____________________ Hit the G spot. |

erm, is Barnets trying hard (and failing) to troll?? This seems like a joke to me, I've only been biking for just under 2 years and I've already racked up several of these 'mods'. I've put a screen on my bike (1), put some nice bar ends on (2), the bike had a random sticker on the tank when I got it (3), I'm planning on putting a braided hose on the front brake for firmer braking I hope (3.1), I've got a top box on there (4.1), some heated grips coming for Christmas (4.2), there's a tank protector thing on it (5.2), mobile phone holder which I use for my phone when it's sat-nav'ing for me (6.2), and I've had the rear tyre changed *(7.2)
All in all, that's 7 current 'mods' and 2 proposed 'mods'. Just.. wtf?? Tyres changed?? Do they mean if you're not running the origional stock tyres (now as bald as my brother) or not using oem? It may sound like a stupid question, but considering the blatant stupidity of their declaration it may be more valid.
Next time I'm looking around at quotes I won't consider Bennmuppets that's for sure. ____________________ Current: VFR800 2008 13.7k and rising rapidly!

For some reason I couldnt help but post on their facebook page. Fucking idiots. Stickers? Screens? Crash Bobbins?
From that reasoning you could fit an alarm but if you put the manufacturers alarm sticker on the bike you have made a modification to the bike.
I wonder what tyre manufacturers would think of this level of discrimination? What about fuel? Can a manufacturer specify you must use BP and if you are found by the insurance company with a tank full of tescos would you be in bother?
