I'm putting together a website for myself and I was wondering what you all use for for things like guestbooks, counters, voting polls, mailing lists etc... I was with bravenet originally but they now seem to have tons of really annoying popups trying to install all sorts of rubbish on your computer now.

Ideally, I would like some ad-free ones that I don't need to pay for. I'll probably have to find a place that will host them for me if this is the case.

For the counter. I need a text counter. The most simple counter in the whole world if possible. Just plain text. Again I'll need to find a place to get it hosted. Any cheap (or free Wink )suggestions for that would be good also.

I'm asking because so many of you seem to have your own sites and I was just wondering what you all do. Thinking

There's very few ad free web hosts left that don't charge. Most people used paid hosting or have their own server.

Last time I check https://www.brinskter.com don't have ads or you could try looking here https://www.webhosts4free.com/ or https://www.freewebspace.net/.

Check out www.echoecho.com, they have some free stuff aswell as some great tutorials and a well run forum, that even has a site check section that I've found really useful in finding compatability problems.

I'm hosted by G and Bendy which is very cheap and cheerful.

I don't think my Guestbook has any pop ups but then I've never tried to sign it. I think it's freeguestbooks.com or something like that.

I'm basically paying £1/month/GB bandwidth. Smile Thumbs Up

I have had some people at work interested in creating a website asking about where I host mine. Should I put the business your way Bendy?

Google these:

CQ counter

Extreme tracking

Both are free to use Website stat tools. Give so much depth information. I use them both a lot in the past.

Can give stuff like: OS people are using\country\how they found your site(referals)\monthly stats etc...are pretty cool stuff.

You only need to sign up with an account, then give the URL pointing to your site. They will explain how to use the trackers, basically you just copy and paste the code.

They don't have any pop ups at all or anything like that. A lot of big companies even use them, you might recognise the Extreme tracking logo...

Give them a try Thumbs Up
