Just bought a bike which i will not see for a further 2 weeks or so it has a full MOT on it but no road tax

How do i go about getting road tax on it, I assume it is as simple as taking the slip i get from the V5 and my insurance and MOT to the post office?

The reason i ask is that i have always done it online or it already had tax

you can still tax it online, but because the log book will still be in old keepers name, it'll get posted to them

Hope you got the £60 or so of the money you'd have to spend on tax off the asking price. Thumbs Up

Well because I bought the bike on line with no ability to view before hand i went in with the idea that i would no buy unless they put a full 12 months MOT on it and droped at least £200 from the asking price.

As i had to pay £99 delivery, however if i was to go and pick it up it would hav ecost me at least £170 petrol only as it is 1000 miles round trip

So yes got £100 off with effect

£100 delivery to Thurso is a steal. I hope you don't get a sneaky surcharge slapped on when they look at a map. Wink

Anyway, thread, pictures, without, useless.

\o/ hoorah ... aanother person stupid enough to buy a vehicle unseen online \o/ I thought I was the only one Laughing
(although mine was a van, not a bike, I'd prolly buy a bike unseen online too if the price was right)

We went all the way to Chippenham to pick up the van we we just bought ebay for £350, and then had to pay £50 for some road tax.

To be fair, we were warned it didnt include the road tax on the eBay listing, but the bastard was out there taking the tax disk off just as we were getting out of the taxi ... he then proceeded to remind us there was no tax but consented to let us give him £50 for it Rolling Eyes

Van's alright so far, though ... but if I had known it didnt have power steering ... I prolly wouldnt have bought it.

Still, it does what it says on the tin Thumbs Up Mr. Green

Yeah it is a steal , i called them before hand and said "YOU DO KNOW WHERE THURSO IS????" and advised that as long as they do not need to take a ferry / plane etc. then it is classed as mainland.

Its becuase the bloody post code we have is shared by Kirwall!!!!!!!

Anyway with regards to buying a bike without riding it, not a stupid as a lot of people think, I now technicaly got a 30 day test ride before i decide i want to keep it,(Distance selling regs) and the 30 day garage warranty plus paid by credit card so pretty covered in all eventuallities.

Also what pisses me off it people that live in Ennglanshshire have no idea how hard it is to find bikes up this end at a good price a lot of sellers up here have never heard of depreciation and do not expect to loose money on their 10 year old bike(I bought it for £5k so i want £5k)

Plus I worked out if i took a car down with a trailer it would cost £160 in petrol alone then digs and food for the night £50 minus the money i would loose not workng to pick it up, and still not sure if i wanted it.

Or i i took the bike down over £150 for train , £400 for plane and aint taking no mega bus have a sweaty old man sleeping on my shoulder (why o why will that young chickie never sits next to me and falls a sleep on my lap!!!!!)

Company that is picking it up is BLD Transport they also do storage etc.

Anyway a picture

Why did you buy a Bandit if you don't like taking the bus? Razz

I'm taking the bus.
And I have never had a Bandit.

Its very nice taking the bus.
I can finish the novel I have been reading for about 3 months.
I'm right at the last dozen or so pages - so its all the exciting bit from here on in.

I will be bored of taking the bus in, oh, about 3 hours time when I stagger home after what is probably my first commute in probably 10 months (and I would still be on the bike, if it werent for the damned handlebar scenario).
