Hey guys, got my CBR125...new engine put in after last one decided the bearings wanted to go in the top end, bottom end and on the cam.

Now the fairings have been off for about 500 miles before engine swap, is there any adverse effects of this? Its water cooled, was covered in a layer of plastic, unsure if its safe to run this way as the fan rarely kicked in with them off and the temp gauge never ever reached half way.

Just curious really.. could be a frigging stupid question...but i'd rather know now than 1000 miles down the line where someone points it out Laughing

It's no different to a street fighter, can't imagine a 125 getting terribly hot in this weather if at a steady pace.

This weather doesnt bother me so much, I can see this being my main transport for the forthcoming year until I reach that happy 3 years no claims mark Laughing Then insurance on a decent powered bike becomes peanuts.

Its primarily the summer weather and the fact I use it on motorways, holding it wide open for about 30mins per day, obviously not what its intended to do really...but its what I have atm.

If anything the fairing would 'channel' air into the radiator, you'd probably find the fan would be on more often in the summer but providing it's not overheating there shouldn't be a problem.

Only thing I'd be worrying about is making sure the electrics are not going to get soaked, heat shouldn't be an issue, especially not on a softly tuned 125.

what a great idea, i almost opted to change my cbr125 to a cg to avoid sweeping across the road on windy days. Is it possible to remove only the side ones? May look into an engine guard, the headlights can't take any more falls.
