Can you tell us more about the bike? Does it have a V5? What equipment is currently fitted (e.g lights)? What is the state of repair (brake discs, brake pads, chain/sprockets, tyres ect) for MOT?

Last 2 pages have a few things that might be helpful...
Only skim read it so dunno what relevance it has though.

as above, you need for normal mot use, front light, back light, brake light, speedo ( dosent have to work ) road legal tyres, brakes ect, if its an off road built bike it won't have the correct stator to run rights so easier to just stick a 12v battery sum where and just run the lights off that. then obv the inspection for vosa.

You don't need to have lights fitted, if they aren't when presented for test you just get an advisory for it.
Obviously only ride it during daylight hours.

So really the bare minimum is a horn and road legal tyres.
Thumbs Up

Hi

If it lands up having to go through SVA (or whatever they are calling it now) then it will probably be quite a bit stricter. Doubt you will get away with a non working speedo.

Remember the horn needs to have a continuous tone so you can't get away with a horn with just a rubber ball to provide air. Remember that the tyres need to be road legal tyres.

There are exemptions for indicators for bikes primarily built for off road use.

All the best

Keith

You don't need a rear reflector if you don't have lights.

I got two MOTs without one, the MOT tester said if you're not riding in the dark then you don't need one as you don't need to reflect the lights.

MOT Manual wrote:
1.4 Rear Reflectors: This inspection applies to: all machines except those which either have no front or rear position lamps or have such lamps permanently disconnected, painted over or masked that are
. only used during daylight hours, and
. not used at times of seriously reduced visibility

So maybe as mine had no lights or indicators it doesn't need one?

I stand corrected, My gsx was electrical taped for MOT but my tester stuck a rear reflector on for me as well, To be honest I wasn't going to argue the point with him at the time, at least not until i had a bit of paper off him with pass written on it (not even green anymore...)

Cheers

You need to get these things if you want to be able to ride in anytime during the day on the raod:

1. Cirtificate of newness for the registration
2.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-CRF-Road-Legal-Lighting-Kit-CRF450-2002-2004-/250731529343?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3a60c3847f#ht_1439wt_952
3.road legal tyres

and you're good to go.

You have the get the vehicle sva tested which they will do after you send of the registration form. If it passes just get it insured and you're good to go!

sva isnt a test they just check frame and engine numbers so longs as its not stolen or tampered with its not a problem

you have to mot it 1st with no number plate
then insure it
then do sva £60 +your road tax

i did a ktm250sx a couple of years back but that was a 98 as yours is less than 10 years old i beleave theres a bit more to it?

No, that is a VIC.

SVA is a test, and FAR more detailed than an MOT. One I heard recently was brand new US market GSXR750s being presented for SVA which has been fitted with aftermarket screens on which they failed as the edges were regarded as not rounded enough.

All the best

Keith
