Was going to change the oil and filter on my 1997 CBR 600 but I cant get the fairing off. Quite a few of the fasteners are rounded and I am at a loss how to get them out. There are two sizes of fastener and it is the really small ones that are the problem.

Bought this as my winter bike and want to give it a bit of a service.

Any advice welcome

Torx + hammer or dremel a slot into them and use a large flat headed screwdriver?

Thanks Paddy I get the dremel way, don't have a dremel but have been meaning to get one (christmas list).

I probably have some torx bits but unsure how you mean with a hammer.

Hammer the bit in. Or use an impact driver. If it's already rounded off so that an allen bit just turns then you're unlikely to make it worse by hammering a different bit in.

Worse case, carefully drill the heads off, get the fairing off, then mole grips on the stud and get it out that way, with plenty of lube first.

Apart from the dremel way, if I do manage to get them out then I obviously will need to put new ones in. One is under the bike so not much room for manoerve.

Never had a faired bike before, so are these fixings easily available from wemoto or someone.

I've managed to just wedge some torx in to grip the hole and get it loose enough.

Talking of 'Dremels', I recently bought a clone of one of those things from either Lidl or Aldi, it cost about £16 and works a treat. Dremel stones and other bits fit it too. Machine Mart sell the identical item but with their sticker on it but for £32-ish
