hi guys need some help with my 1985 bmw r80 rt i got a real issue with it pissing out petrol from the overflow. i keep trying to adjust the float heights but cant seem to get it right does anyone know the correct float height. bike has standard carbs and jetting no modifications i have had the carb totally apart and cleaned it thoroughly inspected parts under a magnifying glass no defects (as far as i can see)

thanks for the advice Vincent i'm going to try that now i will also try to take some pics of some of the parts so you can cast your knowledgeable eye over them

ok have tried blowing gently down the fuel hose i can detect a change when i raise the float.

bing carbs i take it??
my money is on the floats, the bing ones are made from a funny material kind of like foam,
it absorbs the petrol and after a while they stop floating properly,
you can get "ethanol replacements" which are made from plastic and always float Very Happy

thanks for all the info guys after blowing through it discharged what can only be described as carb snot and now all seems to be fine just ran it on a 10 mile test ride and no more leeks also threw a shot of redex for good measure
