Hi guys

I am wondering if a motorbike can get on/off a moving trailer with a ramp.
For example a yamaha yz250 and the moving trailer lets suppose that will be moving with about 40 km/h.
Is that possible? Can that be done??

Yes, always liked the idea of giving it a go.

No reason why not.

If you think about it,it's interesting, for example what will happen when the front wheel get up the ramp or if you get on the trailer could you manage to stop?

It will be the same as putting a wheelie down (though the other way around) - maybe a little skid as the wheel goes from a bit of speed to very slow in an instant - but some braking may help.

The vast majority of the momentum is in the bike and that is continuing at the same relative speed. Only a teeny bit of rotational momentum in the wheels in comparison.

Mythbusters did it with cars I believe [edit] haven't watched the you tube, but believe this is the one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYlstdCWzCY .

Only difference with a motorbike is stability issues really - but as above, don't see that it'll be worse than putting down a wheelie at 100mph, where the front wheel has to go from 0 to 100mph very quickly. Generally you just get a little puff of smoke.

If you wanted to be really fancy, you, could wheelie over the trailer, make sure the front wheel had slowed right down and drop it on - but somehow I expect that's going to be more dangerous!

Of course, if you want to do it with a narrow ramp, it's going to make it that bit harder too.
