So caberg dont make a tinted visor for my current helmet, planning on replacing it with something like an agv when I can afford it but in the mean time i found this for £40 with dark and clear visors Included:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/VIPER-RS-33-MOTORCYCLE-HELMET-Black/dp/B0055QSXKI/ref=sr_1_11?s=clothing&ie=UTF8&qid=1369780175&sr=1-11&keywords=viper+motorcycle+helmet

Will save me messing around with those cheap tinted inserts, And dont think it did too bad in the saftey ratings and that. Might just get one till I can afford a higher range replacement..

Thoughts? Any of you got this lid?

Cheers!

Why waste £40 now, then buy a new helmet again shortly after?

Surely just keep the one you have and wait a bit longer and get a 'keeper'

I've just got one of these and although it's noisy on the motorway I think it's decent for the money, the drop down sun visor is a nice touch too:

www.ghostbikes.com/products/ghostbikes.com-brands-viper/4520-viper-rs-v7-zero-cyborg-motorcycle-helmet.html

I'm slightly annoyed though as I paid £60 about a week ago and they're now selling for £40 Laughing

If you just want a tinted visor...get one of these for £7 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002HMVJOU/ref=asc_df_B002HMVJOU13426252?smid=A35OVVHXU8VITD&tag=hydra0b-21&linkCode=asn&creative=22218&creativeASIN=B002HMVJOU&hvpos=1o1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1135367921808763732&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=

I've had one fitted for a couple of years and they are excellent, you just trim the edge to fit your visor....and they are road legal during the day Smile

Surely for that sort of price, would it not offer the bare minimum on protection?

Not trying to sound like a twat, but is their not a law against the use of tinted visors? I see quite a few people using them, and wouldn't mind one myself, but i'd be the person who rides past all the police on their bad days.

Yeah I dont think its gunna give as much protection as a higher range lid.. but its still all approved for uk roads so cant be too terrible.. and there are cheaper helmets out there believe it or not :p none the less i dont think id have anything this cheap for more than a temporary fix, and then a spare helmet. As for the visors most of them say legal for daytime use.. and Im not that sure how many cops are really gunna care.. literally half if not more of all the bikers I see on a sunny day have them on.. if ones in a bad mood or got nothing to do i guess you might be out of luck

I fitted it a couple of years ago, mine didn't need trimming to fit my visor, it has an adhesive strip at either end and sticks inside your visor, I haven't removed it since fitting it, but a couple of times a year I wipe between it and the visor without unsticking the ends just to remove any dust, it is an excellent product, even when riding with visor open (which I don't do much) it stays put...doesn't flap around or move at all, having said that i don't think I've been above 40mph with the visor open.
It's just like having a tinted visor but a fraction of the price, you fit it and forget it, I would definitely buy another....get one you'll love it Thumbs Up

you can check protection levels here https://sharp.direct.gov.uk/ covers most makes and models of helmet.

there is a "law" the same as there is a law covering tinted windows in cars, the oxford insert is legal during daytime, says so on the packet.

Thanks mate, got 4 stars.. not bad.. could see me throgh till I get a better one.

The thing with the insert is id have to remove and re fit it all the time as I do allot of both day and night riding, the adhesive tabs would probs become un sticky pretty quickly

You can check protection levels by putting it on and seeing how well it fits.

Some years ago I went for an 'FM' because I couldn't afford another Shoei - the FM was the best fit I could find for my budget.

Rolling on my head and shoulder saw that slight ill-fit lead to a nasty concussion and head aches which tapered off over the following year.
