saw this on IGN, a sound system for a sound price that will run anything thrown at it today without breaking the bank.

https://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/121/1214544p1.html

You could chop and change bits but for a gaming rig and getting your hands dirty this would do the job.

Oh and its a decent article anyway, if not a little loose. The points cound be argued back and forth but all in all not bad. Thumbs Up

In the article they tell you that you shouldn't do that.

Biggest joke in the article is 'we will need a good power supply unit to handle all this, here is a crap one for £35 that will blow in your face after 2 months.

All the parts and pricing is rubbish, I'd avoid that guide like the plague and carry on with the hundreds of threads instead.

Not many people making the threads (even me) would want to spend over £1,000 on their first rig.

To be fair the components you'd actually need if you already have any pc/moniter only come to about 400, the articles still a joke though.

Hey, my first rig cost £1000.

It had 4Mb RAM and a SoundBlaster and everything and was used entirely for playing Doom Smile

£54 for 8gb ram!? You can buy 2x 4GB DDR3 1600 for £30, While I sit in the middle with AMD/intel/Nvidia, ATM Intel CPU's ARE the best for bang for buck, as are the mid/high end AMD GPU's. £25 for a decent powers supply?! Rolling Eyes Is this writer on crack? Im not saying you need to spend LOADS on a decent one, but £50 will get you a QUALITY 750 semi modular which with through that out constantly. Oh and £34 on a mobo for gaming?! I VERY much doubt that expensive RAM will run at its full speed on it.

The pc set-up is overpriced, most of the budget is going in the completely wrong place, and some of those judgments are WAY WAY WAY out.

This guy must either be on something, Not know SHIT about decent rigs, or just be a complete and utter spack.

£600 buys a decent games machine these days
I rebuilt my system recently for £500 inc new MB, X6 AMD, 8gb 1600 memory, 500w PSU, 2tb hard disk, case and 23" 1080 monitor

used my existing Graphics as its more than what I need (don't play games)
and my DVD RW and its more than capable of running BF3 full blast

the guy that wrote that article should be sacked for not researching it a bit better

Exactly! My current gaming machine cost me little over £600, And that's with a mid range GPU/24" HD monitor, gaming keyboard ETC. If your not gaming and just want to surf the net, you can build a decent I3 system for £250/300
