This is one for you car buds, basically I'm looking for a service guide for an MG ZR and haven't been able to find one anywhere. I've looked on eBay before any of you suggest it (Ste). Razz

Does anyone know if it's possible to get one from MG directly or do they not like giving them out?

Any info would be great. Thanks. Thumbs Up

Hi

It is just a Rover 200 / Rover 25, and it should be easy to find a manual for that in Halfords (Haynes must do one).

However for basic servicing just look at the service book and change the oil at every scheduled service, clean the air filter and check the pads, etc. Probably every other service (or maybe every 3rd one) change the fuel filter, spark plugs and air filter. And if they use the same gearbox as the early 1990s Rover 200, probably consider changing the gearbox then as well Wink .

All the best

Keith

The dealers have them, impersonate your local MG dealer and "re-order one"...Keith's right though, the car's essentially a Rover 200/25, which Haynes produces a manual for anyway.

Have fun.

What do you actually need to know?

we have tech data books at work which cover everything so I should be able to find out things for you.

Or there is this. https://www.diskrus.com/romsrus/id15.html

If anyone knows if theres a dealer manual, or otherwise for the MGTF available that would be great. Its been back 4 times for them to try and sort the brakes. Im well tempted to have a go myself, and see why the hell they keep squealing and sticking? Im glad that none of the bike dealers ive ever been to were ever this crap!

The problem these days is that asbestos isn't used in pads anymore which makes them safer but as a by product they tend to be harder and sometimes they squeak.

The only real way round it is to change the pads.

Hi

You can try a bit of copper grease on the backs of the pads, and chamfer the leading edge of the pads slightly. That will help, but maybe not for that long.

All the best

Keith

Basically the car is a year old this month and it's time for its first service. Well its done less than the required mileage but at the dealer we were told to get it done within 12k or a year so basically it needs doing. I was just wondering what Rover/MG do in this particular service because I was quoted £320 which in my opinion is way too expensive considering they won't be doing /that/ much to the car. I assumed they would be doing the Oil/Oil Filter/ Pollen Filter/ Air Filter any anything else that needs doing for that price but the woman at Kingsbury Rover told me that they only do the Oil/Pollen Filter and other 'Special Checks' that she can't tell me about because thats how they make their services better than anywhere else. Basically I told them to go away as I'd like to do the servicing myself, unless you can do it for cheap sometime this weekend Kev? Wink

That is well over priced for a first annual service, on a service like that all you change is oil, oil filter and pollen filter.

Our place charges £160 for a service like that but I will do it for £90 including parts and you book will be stamped.

Only thing you have to consider is if you get it serviced somewhere apart from a Rover garage is the warranty.

Taken my TF into the dealer today, and they found that the rear pads had come away from their backing plates, which sounds quite bad to me. They will fit new pads tomorrow which should sort it for good i hope! So far ive had new front calipers, new Servo, and now this! Damn cars eh?
