Or at least that's what I'm begining to think.

Today I have seen such moronic acts as:

Driving a black car, at night, with no lights on - And taking no hints despite flashing my brake light and staring intently at traffic lights.

And driving on a tyre that was flat to the rim...Not as in driving it to a garage even (as if that would be acceptable) - but driving it to the shops.

Does it happen more often in winter or do I just notice it more? Who knows.
Anyone else seen some down right stupid shit in this lovely time of year? Neutral

Saw a guy driving with no lights on, he had a chicken drumstick in one hand, and a KFC pepsi in the other. (what I mean by KFC pepsi is, it was not a can but one of their cups with straw, not that it makes a difference)

Obviously it was dark, and the outside temperature was -1.

Lucky we've got all those "safety" cameras to catch them, eh?

I agree actually. I've seen more stupid shit recently than the rest of the year put together. I blame it on the Christmas hype.

Last night a Zafira almost rear-ended me as I slowed to enter a petrol station forecourt. The tailgating fucktard failed to see my indicator, and the fact I slowed gently to give more warning.

Thumbs Down

They are indeed moronic, last week on an icy blind corner of a residential area I saw the light from headlights coming the other way so stopped. Car comes sliding round the corner sideways stopping just shy of my front wheel. Presumably they didn't see the white frost covering the road out of the 12 inch patch they cleared on their icy windscreen.

Must be all the christmas beer cheer.

I see more and more people driving around with only one working headlight who think its OK to put on their main beams so that they can see properly. How hard is it to change a bulb? Hell, I can do it on my car and I'm a womans.

Could be worse, they could be in control of a load carrying sledge and several draught animals with dangerous hornage.

Depends on the car, Renault Megane with Xenon bulbs are a royal PITA apparently.

Take your Renault to a dealer to get the bulb changed? That is monumentally retarded! Laughing

I must admit I've noticed more stupid shit in the last 2 weeks than the rest of the year. I've been commuting in the car because the bike's broke and I've had more situations where people pull out on you because they haven't looked properly than when on the bike! Loads of people here driving round without headlights on, and loads with a bulb out.

Modern car dashboards don't help, they're always lit even when the headlights are off. If they make them unlit when lights are off people would figure out they're driving round with no lights on!

+1 Insightful. The dash on my wife's Picasso actually dims when you turn the lights on, that's just mental.

Because you put lights on at night, more light in car = less road visibility.
They dim as it assumes its night time, doesn't require too much illumination.

My Astra has an adjuster in there for the brightness, myabe see if there is one in there?

Yeah, I've seen loads of stupid driving recently. I have been working outside in the car park so far today (on my lunch break at the moment) and there are so many idiots that reverse without looking, missing another car (and other people!) by inches... Some douche nearly knocked over 2 bikes that were parked up together too. Doh!

Winter eh? What fun. :')

What i have noticed is people drive like they purposely want to spend as much time as possible getting around.
Very rarely do i see anyone doing 60mph on a national speed limit road anymore. Maybe they slow down due to petrol prices.

You're making a wild assumption that they will actually look at their instrument cluster. It is my experience that a large number of drivers dont bother.

I commute on bicycle at the moment , saving cash and ridding myself of the spare aeroplane tyre round my waist.

I've nearly been t boned twice in the past week (not even a close call in the 3 months prior) and yesterday morning I was tboned by a dude pulling out at a junction. Yes I had lights, big bright flashing feckers to, then last night on his way home my work colleague who also cycles had an old dear drive into the back of him at a junction, luckily he wasnt splatted by traffic in the junction, he was wearing a bright yellow hi vis jacket and flashing lights.

Flashing lights are why I would t-bone a cyclist. Twisted Evil

You should have 'legal' lights on the bike if you use it on the public highway.
They should NOT flash and be on constantly, White light on the front and a red light on the rear.
The Red light must be capable of shining visible light through a radius of 180 degrees. Which is where a lot of LED lamps are no good for the sole use on a bike.
Also ensure the red light can actually be seen by other road users.

Most cyclists I see on the roads today are oblivious to the law governing lights on a bike and the use of.
These laws are not prohibitive they are to protect life and property.
As cycle use increases more are involved in RTAs.
Down to stupidity more than anything else.

Cycling means you have to look out for yourself AT ALL TIMES and not to be relient on others looking out for you (coz the fcuk they won't). Or assuming they somehow, telepathically, understand what you intend to do.

Whilst I am aware of the Legalities involved in cycle lights, I still always have them flashing. I dont understand why you're not allowed and i'm certainly of the opinion that it's alot easier to be alerted to a cyclist with flashing lights than solid.
By all means fill me in on why, cause i'd like to know. But in the mean time, I shall knowingly break the law for my own safety.
EDIT: After having a read through of the link actually, I see it says "Flashing lights ARE permitted" but recommends solid front light in non-lit areas... I use a solid front anyway.

I get pissed off with the amount of people driving around with no working brake lights.

Shows the amount that drive around without MOT's. Rolling Eyes

Chumps. In order to be completely safe, I spend most of my time staring at my speedometer. Thumbs Up

Seen twice in the last month cars that have brake lights constantly on. I'd like to know what has happened there.
