well i made a big mistake today!!!
I thought i would go visit my nan and grandad for the first time since i got my yamaha xj 600.
I pull up into there driveway which is on a hill and squeeze through a little gap and park to the left of my grandads car and put the steering lock on.

now this is where i feel like ive done my weekly workout....

my bike had slid down a few inches and was touching the car, i struggled to get the steering lock off because i have to straighten the wheel a bit before i can unlock it and when i did that my bike slid backwards some more.

I couldn't get it off the side stand because i couldn't lean my bike to the right, my bike engine cuts out if i put it in first with side stand down so the only way was to push it forward up and hill which knackered me out.

And then to top it off i was sat on it to reverse it out and i went a bit too fast and turned it left which resulted in it falling over but i hoped off quickly and kept it held up before it hit the ground but i couldnt for the life of me pull it up straight so i was stood there for a good 30 seconds with all my veins popping out till some random bloke saw me and come help me out.

my back is aching so much now lol

Man, they are heavy in that situation aren't they Laughing Not funny at the time though, I know.
The panic and the realisation sets in that your shiny bike is not going to be so shiny if it hits the floor.

Glad it didn't drop though mate. Lesson learned I reckon Thumbs Up

You've been to his nan and Grandad's and dropped your bike next to the car?

I bet they are pissed off now that the OP has done it too.

I bet there can't be many of us who haven't been in a similar situation!
It's amazing the strength you can find when you really need it. Shocked

Once you get them leaned past a certain angle, they can get very hard to hold up if you're not expecting it / in the right position.

Had a similar thing with my CB125TDC it was one heavy thing for a 125! And I'm not exactly small.

Reminds me of the time I came to a halt and caught my bootlace in the side stand spring, flailed about like the scarecrow in Wizard of Oz before I got my right hoof on the tarmac, must have looked hilarious.

It is a scientifically proven fact that an ordinary human can exert ten times it's own body weight to save a motorcycle from falling to the ground. Or at the least, slow the rate of decent down enough to prevent major mashing of plastic.

Do anything for your bike, even if it means giving yourself a Hernia in the process Laughing

At least you kept it upright Thumbs Up

I remember when I had just passed my test in the summer and had woken up late for work so was in a rush, my bike was parked a few streets over so I went to warm it up and this family where sat there all getting in their car next to me.

*Idiot Moment* Still half asleep and after a mere ten seconds of warming up I decided I'm going to ride it round to outside my house to let it warm up ..... not enough gas on the pull away and I go half a meter before the bike stalls and I go crashing down on the deck, the whole family just stare at me and ask if I'm ok.

Needless to say it wasn't my finest hour, as it landed I tried to keep it up and so minimised the impact so got away with it. Luckily I moved the following week and never saw them again Laughing
Either way, you live, you learn.

Wait until you buy and start to regularly use your first disc lock. It will give you the opportunity to learn whole new, unexpected ways to acrobatically keep the plastic from kissing tarmac / pavement / bollard / swimming pool / cliff (why did I park so close to the edge) whilst simultaneously exercising the full range of colour and, in some cases, flavour, within your vocabulary.

I have a heavy duty, used one for sale if you like. One owner from new and an astonishingly large number of scratches all over it.
