2006 er6-f oily smell?!

hi, had my first bike (2006 er6f) a couple of months now and getting along just fine

a combination of working abroad a lot and the crap weather meant i hadn't used or started it for 3 weeks or so. now when i start or ride the bike i get definite smell coming from somewhere. im guessing its an oil smell or maybe coolant? (have noticed it the last 3 rides)

is this something related to it having sat unused or something more sinister i should be looking out for?
