I don't do the 360s myself at work but from what I've gathered the the drives are coded to match the console as a portion of the platforms copy protection. I'm not sure if theres anyway to change the drive without chipping the console itself, if there is I imagine it'd be done by flashing the drive. N30 is probably the best person to ask ____________________ 2010 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST |

Nope, the physical board is coded to the board.
The laser is just an add on to it, it fails...quick repair |

Drives are paired to the box yes, You cannot change the drive like for like.
Replacing the laser is fine though. |

...or buy the same drive and swap the PCB in the drives which is a 4 screw job.
Lens or PCB both easy to do, if your doing just the Lens mae sure its a good one as there are some god awful ones floating about on egay. ____________________ The BCF's very own Party boy! Though he's getting old and feeling it!

Yeah I'd fuck eBay off as a source of laser, find a console repair/game type place that sells them and buy one from there, make them remove the anti-static ball in front of you, that way you'll know you have a brand new working laser, too many twats selling shafted ones on eBay, only just got a refund from buying two lasers listed as brand new, when they arrived they didn't have anti-static solder balls on them, first warning sign, measured the resistance on both and each was about 1.5kohms, whereas from factory I'd expect them to be 5-6, anything below 3.2 is shafted.
Left negative feedback warning others, que me being hassled by the seller trying to bribe me to change it - well I say bribe, they were offering £1, which was just fucking insulting if you ask me, it got to a point where they were phoning me on my mobile, I told them to stop harrassing me otherwise I'd report them to ebay which would really fuck up their day (power seller with top-rated status etc), and what do you know haven't heard from since.
Anyways, laser change is a very simple jobby an no need to worry about console pairing or anything.
