Hi all, bought an AOC 2036sa a month or so ago, and in Firefox and IE there are artifacts all over the screen, sometimes worse than others. I've tried re-installing drivers, using a windows driver etc and it still does it.

The weird thing is, is that it's perfectly fine when playing games and when just using the PC, seems to only occur when using browsers.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Forgot to mention OS etc...

Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit, all up to date
Radeon 6870, running Catalyst 11.12. I've tried running older versions, back to 11.8

I would guess at it being a card problem rather than the monitor.
Is it onboard video? If not then unplug the card (obviously after switching the PC off!), check & clean the contacts. Remove and reseat any onboard video ram. Reinstall the card and fire it back up.

IE9 is GPU accelerated. Dots and snow = the ram on your video card is failing, jagged lines and artifacting = the GPU itself is hurting.

Google up Speedfan and install it right now, then check your temps paying particular attention to the north bridge and GPU. If you are lucky you might get away with simply sorting your air flow out.

Well its idling at 41c, and everything else checks out fine under speedfan and gpu-z, as I said it only does it in browsers. Read a forum earlier and someone with a 6850 said they're card shoots up to 100% load when using a scrollwheel in browsers and mine does the same so maybe its a driver issue?

Thanks for the replies and merry xmas!

Well, looks like the card is kaput.

Been playing Skyrim this morning, and had a really good look to see if I could notice anything, and lo and behold there are some small glitches, although nowhere near as bad as when browsing the web.

I've applied from an RMA from eBuyer, what are they usually like in this situation, anyone ever had any experience of returning stuff to them? Personally I'd like to swap it for a 560Ti now, but I only have the option of a direct replacement apparently. The card's only 2 months old as well....

Cheers.

ebuyer are great at RMA, had to RMA 2 laptops and a hard drive with them this year and all 3 times, spot on.

Create an RMA with them via logging in and they will give you options to select when a courrier will come and pick it up. They should offer you your money back or a replacement.

Get your money back and put the difference to it for a 560.

Thanks for the replies.

Looking into a new mobo now as well, as I went out and bought myself an Antec VSK-1000 this morning, and the poxy BTX board in here now wont fit (I was pretty certain it wouldn't anyway) so I now 'need' a decent new board to go with the case, that will take all my stuff.

Very Happy

eBuyer are one of the best in the business for electricals. The delivery service is fantastic as well, where else can you order something at 10.45pm at night and have it delivered to your door at 9am the next day?

Sometimes they might not be the cheapest option but I'm one of them people who pays for a service and doesn't mind paying a little bit extra for it.

Amazon, you can also order it by 1pm and have it arrive the same day.

It is also cheaper than ebuyer.

8pm normally, have done it twice, granted it costs £7.50 still fucking cool though!

I'm not arsed about delivery cost, would pay £15 to have it delivered the same day if I was in desperate need. Nice one for the info, I'm going to order something just for the sake of it to see how long it takes!

Actually it apparently costs £15

I have Amazon prime, so it only costs £7.50, it is only in certain areas too.

Is it best to phone them and do it?

Reason I ask is that I applied for an RMA, and could only select a direct replacement. The other day my new motherboard and RAM turned up, so I set all that up and re-installed Windows and it seemed to stop, so I cancelled on them collecting the card. It's now started doing it again, even worse.

Thing is I've had this card 2 months or so and I dont really want another one, it's not the best advert for XFX or AMD really. I've never once had problems with nVidia boards, from any manufacturer.

I've just tried to start another RMA and again the only option I have is a direct replacement, so do you think that's all they'll offer me? If that's all I can get I'll do that and sell it straight on.

Ring them up then, if it's faulty, it needs to be replaced and will be under warranty. You may be referred to the manufacturer though as I think their replacement policy is up to 30 days.

I have a faulty Corsair headset that needs to go back but it's well over 5 months since I bought it. Tried to do an RMA on their site online and it wouldn't let me, said to refer to Corsair. Corsair have a 2 years warranty on them so I will get round to it.

When I sent an RMA for my RAM, which was faulty on arrival, I had to phone their technical team before they authorised it. Asked me questions like, "Have you tested it with 1 module?", "What happened?" etc.
