PostPosted: 13:57 - 21 Dec 2011    Post subject: My "BCF" Crimbo Quiz, (ANSWERS NOW AVAILABLE, in O Reply with quote

Hi Folks,

As it seems to be a tradition in other media, I thought I'd have a go at compiling a Xmas/Newyear quiz, especially for BCFers.
All the questions are biking related, some hard questions some easy.
I'm fully aware that all the answers can be Googled, but what's the point in that.
I'm not offering a prize, it's just a bit of fun for when you have a lucid moment or two, between the bouts of drink and drug fuelled amnesia you may find your self experiencing, over the festive period.
I will publish the answers after new year, which should give you plenty of time to get the old grey cells churning.
There are 20 questions and a possible 52 points at stake.

My only concern is, I've never attached a PDF document to a post so I'm not sure if this will work straight away, it works on my PC but I have the original file so it might just be picking that up.
If it doesn't work for you please let me know asap.

If you enjoyed the quiz feel free to use it elsewhere.
I've complied many other general knowledge quizzes before, but I have to say it was quite difficult doing this one.

Anyway, have fun.

Regards

Sid Cool

Are we supposed to publish what we think are the answers?

If you think you can all be trusted not to Google the answers, then keep the answers to yourself for now.
I'll publish all the answers on New Years weekend, and you can decide who the winner is, if you want to make it into a contest.

If anyone wants the answers before hand I can send you them in a PM, but obviously that would exclude you from any glory, if the BCF massive wants to declare winners.

I suppose the only prize you can give is karma to the winners.

Happy Quizzing!

Not really, most of the answers have been disscussed on here.
The anagrams and cryptic clues can be worked out with no knowledge of the biking world, a few educated guesses and a bit of lateral thinking would probably see correct answers for the rest.

I don't see the point of making a quiz easy, that 's just an exercise in ego massaging. Wink

In case anyone did't see this, I will publish the answers on Sunday 01/12, that's assuming you didn't just Google them all.

You need to alter the last answer in Pt 7 to Brandish corner.

Well Spotted with Brandish AB. There is also another named corner on the mountain section between the Mountain Box and the Mike Casey Shelter known as George's Folly after Alex Georges crash in '77, this corner is also known as Rice's corner.

A little further on between the Verandah and the Les Graham Memorial (Bungalow Bridge) is the Bob McIntyre Memorial Shelter, the shelter is long gone but people often refer to the name.

The dropping left hander at Keppel Gate was also referred to as Clark's Corner.
