MOAR pics.

sorry but we need a pic of this.

as for cleaning it off, paint scraper, hot engine (go for a 10/20 minute ride) while its re-melted use the scraper to remove the mass bulk of it then as it gets to a rubbery viscosity peel the remainder off

Never managed to get my gunk (waterproof pants on one bike, plastic carrier bag on the other Rolling Eyes ) off completely but I can share a funny moment re the carrier bag.

Well it might be funny to the older or more "old skool" members on here anyway. Embarassed

The bag blew into the exhaust while we were on the way to a bike show hosted by a backpatch club based in South Yorks. When we got there we asked a friend of ours, who is a member of the club, what was good for removing melted plastic from exhausts. He thought for a moment. "Erm, a prospect?" was his eventual reply. Laughing

prospect: a new member to a club. Prospects must earn thier way up the ranks to be recognised as a fully fledged member.

a good movie to get to grips with it would be biker boys.

oh, just to see the state of the exhaust and your boot.

it would also give people a better indication how badly welded on it is and of any awkward angles or nuts/bolts/welds ect that would complicate cleaning it off.

You say it's on the "link" i.e the link of the silencer?

Do you know what material it is?

Its rubber from my boot. Its on the section just behind the foot peg - about 4" below the silencer.

Bike: ZX7r

Will post some pictures tomorrow - and will hopefully also get it off! lol

Sorry I meant the metal material Laughing

If it is just metal colour (not black) I would suggest Brick Acid. Dilute 1 part water to 1 part brick acid and start with a pint brush. If it doesn't come off with the paint brush, use a scourer.

Use a brand new stanley blade as a scraper, pulled backwards, after rubbing in some WD40 or GT85.

That's what got the lining of my MA1 jacket off my exhaust headers.

Plastic bag is a hell of a job to get off a downpipe, as said prospect or gimp job.
