 |
|
Hi,
My mum had a stroke on Christmas Eve and my father, sister and I have been trying to take care of her affairs, including dealing with her car. We have moved her car off the road and cancelled the insurance on it, and have SORN'd it online, but we would like to claim a refund for the remaining tax. Since my mum is paralysed down her right side at the moment, she is unable to sign the signature box on the tax disc refund form. If I sign it for her, even with her consent, wouldn't that be fraud? Can I sign it myself and write 'signed by my name, on behalf of her' or something to that effect? Anyone been through this sort of thing? Cheers folks... |

Sorry to hear about your mum, I hope she recovers.
I'll tell you this in all seriousness: the first thing that you should forge is a power of attorney. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Yeah sign it with her name. The cheque will be made out to her after all. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

That's great news, but I'm sure that you've been told to expect further episodes - the time to arrange enduring power of attorney is now, which she can communicate her wishes clearly.
Much as I despite solicitors, I would suggest that you talk to some local outfits and ask them to help protect you and your mother from the Office of the Public Guardian. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
