Im getting into a bit of confusion trying to work out what sized tyre i should get.

Superdreams OE tyre is a 4.10 18in tyre, but these arn't common any more. These have an aspect ratio of 85%. The modern 4.00 18in ones have an aspect ratio of 100% so will change the gearing a bit.

But what about modern tyres? like say 90/90 or 100/90 which would be best to go for?

I've also read that 3.50 18in have a similar rolling circumference to the old 4.10 tyres (Source is CMM magazine) so this is another possible option

Read an article in said magazine about someone looking for new tyres for the cb250, he had previously had a 3.50 tyre (4.10 not being available) and had just bought a 4.00 tyre. This had caused him to see a loss in acceleration, top speed and fuel economy

If anyone could shed some light, be much appreciated Very Happy

4.10 x 18 with a ratio of 85%

so: 4.1" = 104.14

85% of 104 is 20.8. So standard has a profile height of 21mm

So closest is probably going to be something like 110x80-18 giving you a profile height of 22mm.

AM26 roadrider in 110x80-18. Speed rating V. Universal fitting.

We have a winner if you can cope with it being 3mm wider on each side.

The avons on my superdream are 90/90-H19 Front and 100/90-H18 Rear, If thats any use to you.

In those sizes the roadriders are probably your best bet, tis a bit of an odd size on the front making it hard to find anything decent.

Watch those slightly wider tyres though - I used some modern tyres on a KH250 I rebuilt and because the profile was different they rubbed.... Probably worth speaking to a few Superdream owners to find out if they've had any problems...

I used some Sava tyres on my x7.

3.00-18 front and 3.50-18 rear i think they were.

MC7 was the tyre 'model'.

They dont have much of a rounded profile.

I dont really ride my 250 like a nut so cant say what the overall grip is like, sorry.

For what i use the bike for, they are spot on.

Those look just like the old Pirelli MT65s. Which were pretty good all round tyres for middleweight commuter bikes all things considered. Shame they stopped making them.
