sounds like it needs the carbs balancing mate. they are quite noisey motors and sound a bit offbeat at low rpms tho, whats it run like under load as my GPZ sounds like a bag of spanners in a washing machine at idle but smooths out around 3k under load.

I balanced the carbs 3 times and renewed the idle jets, but I have been using my cheap guages I might try the digital one at work.

Once its warmed up, its ok under load much better since I cleaned the jets, but takes a while to warm up couple of miles.

Haven't done the valve clearences yet because I don't want to spend too much money on gaskets.

Same for me with my GPZ (same engine), they're total tractors at idle, it improves a bit when warm, it improves a lot under load and will very probably be totally fine mate.

Not massively dissimilar to my GPZ either, although it didn't sound quite as ropey as this - which may be me just forgetting how rattly it was at a standstill. Certainly not a clean sounding engine.
