(at a guess) I'd say it was binding slightly which would account for the superheating of the brake, again guessing but if its heated up enough it might have expanded to a point where its on all the time...
Have you got a torque wrench? you will need one to put the calipers back on ... are the back brakes twin brakes? it may be a bit of dirt has gotten lodged and the fluid is getting to one side more than the other...
I'm pretty new to this myself i may be wrong but its worth having a look, see if both discs are hot on the back, if only one is then its only one side binding.. i'd be interested what it is because i think i'm having a similar problem.. ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

Must have missed this...
My ZXR brakes were fucked when I first bought it, though the front calipers on mine were the worst. I thought it was pretty hard to push so got a second hand set of calipers (complete with spanking new pads) for £20. What had happened was the pistons were seized solid in corrosion etc and were stuck on the disc, causing mine to heat up like a bastard. Hopefully you'll get it sorted but I found that ZXR calipers were quite cheap second hand so didn't bother trying to repair the old one. Have you got any pics of the offending item? ____________________ NSR125RR - ZXR750H1 - ZX9R E1 - GSF600S - GSF600SK3 - VFR400-NC30 - SV1000N - ST1100-R - CBR900RR-R - GSF1200SK5 - GSF600SK1 - VFR1200FA - GSXR1000K2 - ZZR1400 D8F
